Warners Shows - a look back on 2018!
‘After what felt like the longest winter ever the sun came out briefly in March just in time for our first show of 2018. Now in its fifth year, this was our largest Yorkshire Motorhome & Accessory Show to date. Over 6500 day visitors flocked to Harrogate to explore 300 different new and used models as well as a fantastic selection of accessories. Those looking to buy and those looking to better their driving skills took advantage of the free manoeuvring courses on offer run in conjunction with the Caravan and Motorhome Club.
On our return to Warners HQ in Lincolnshire, sadly the rain returned and the threat of a muddy Peterborough was looming. We made the decision to write off a large amount of sodden fields, turn away non-booked ralliers and dig out our wellies. Little did we know what was about to happen… As the temperatures rose to 25C+, we reversed our decision, welcomed everyone (and their bbqs!) and enjoyed the warmest April day in 70 years. A sell-out crowd partied with Jimmy Osmond, over 300 exhibitors dug out their suncream, and our campers went home with a tan!
May saw us share the weekend of the Southern Motorhome Show in Newbury with Harry & Meghan’s Wedding. A combination of royal excitement, sunshine, sixties themed entertainment and a buzzing trade area ensured a good time was had by all.
By the time June came along, it was time to jive! We hosted our second rock’n’roll event at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire. Meanwhile, our Norfolk Motorhome Show in July was given a new summer party theme, which encompassed comedy, motown, tributes to iconic bands such as ABBA and the Bee Gees as well as outstanding performances from Ska Britannia and Elvis through the Years. Never before have we still had 1000+ people on a dancefloor at 11pm on a Sunday!
Our Western Motorhome Show which takes place in Malvern each August gets bigger each year, and this year was no exception. Over 3,000 camping pitches and 25,000 square metres of tradestands filled every square inch of the Three Counties Showground. If you haven’t been to this one before, the atmosphere at our country & western show really is spectacular.
September saw us turn into super busy bees, with two shows to set-up, run and breakdown. The team headed to Shepton Mallet at the start of the month for our second year in Somerset. We’re really enjoying returning this show to its former glory. The Bath & West Showground are continuously investing in their facilities, our visitor numbers were up and there were plenty of deals to be had in the exhibition area.
We finished with some windy and cold weather at our season finale in Lincoln, but as the theme is Best of British, we didn’t let the great British weather dampen our spirits. Joe Pasquale made us laugh until we cried, the team at MJ linedancing offered some fabulous tuition and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight pilot treated us to an amazing flyover with the Lancaster Bomber.
Who can believe that another year is done, as always they fly by! For now we enjoy a few weekends at home, whilst the office time is spent busily preparing for hosting all of you again in 2019. Bookings open Monday 10th December!’
