On a little known stretch of coastline, bordered by the largest dune system in England, lies a holiday home park with a charming character.
Willowbank Holiday Home and Touring Park is on the Sefton coast, just five miles from the Victorian resort of Southport and popular surrounding villages. The park is close to the beaches of Ainsdale – Formby and Crosby, famous for Anthony Gormley’s spectacular statue creation of 100 cast iron figures facing towards the sea.
The Sefton coastline is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest which stretches for 22 miles between Southport and Crosby Beach.
The present owners have been looking after Willowbank Holiday Park for 15 years now. In that time they have carried out a programme of improvements, and on-going dedication to keeping the neat aspect of the park is key to the owners. It’s a well tended park, yet retaining a natural aspect; woodland management and the planting of trees ideal for the pine woods region are part of the programme here. Gardens are on corners of the cul-de-sacs in which the holiday homes are arranged. Many areas of the park are landscaped and flowers are a feature of the entrance in particular.
The park is level and has illuminated roads. The entrance is barrier-controlled and CCTV monitored.
There’s a delightful, enclosed dog walk along one edge of the park.
The park is open to 50 weeks a year (14 February to 31 January).
Holiday homes here have a 20-year licence agreement.
