Port Werburgh Park - Waterside Living

Fancy living close to the sea? On the shores of an estuary? Next to a marina? Within easy reach of London? And near to both coastal and woodland walking opportunities?

All of those boxes and more are firmly ticked by a new residential development in Kent. Port Werburgh Residential Park has spectacular views over the River Medway in Kent. The park is situated on the little-known Hoo Peninsula, on the northern side of the Medway. The name Hoo is an old English word meaning ‘spur of land’.This was once the point of departure across the ancient Saxon fording point over the Thames.

It’s a brilliant location with a lot to offer. Rich in history, the surrounding area’s many attractions include the cobbled-street village of Upnor, where there is a spectacular Elizabethan fort, dating from the 1500s. Upnor Castle was built to protect warships moored at Chatham dockyards. There’s also Cooling Castle, built between 1381 and 1385, six miles north of Rochester, to protect the River Thames.

The park, for people over the age of 50, is next to Port Werburgh Marina, a well-established residential and leisure marina. Leisure moorings are available, making this a perfect location if you’re contemplating taking up sailing.

The park has a stunning woodland backdrop, and  part of the park is on land that extends out from the Hoo Peninsular, commanding views over the Medway and providing a totally marine living environment.

The village of Hoo St Werburgh (a village mentioned in the Domesday Book) is only a short walk away. There are supermarkets and other shops, as well as a medical centre and a dental surgery. The village has a swimming pool, squash courts, a golf course and an indoor bowls centre.

Port Werburgh has the added advantage of excellent transport links including the M25, the A2/M2 and the M20 (the Dartford Bridge and Tunnel are only 18.9 miles away).
