Park Review: Woodlands Park

68a89579-8dfb-4913-9f84-40c819749663

Woodlands Park is close to the West Wales coast – just five minutes from picturesque New Quay and 10 minutes from the harbourside village of Aberaeron.

The park is owned by Holland Parks, which has holiday and residential parks in Gloucestershire, Nottinghamshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. This holiday park offers a mixture of lodges and chalets, with opportunities to buy refurbished chalets starting at £12,500.

Buy-to-let

Interestingly, you can buy a lodge here purely as an investment, on a buy-to-let basis, or you can offset your cost by letting your lodge when you won’t be using it.

The park is in a woodland setting as its name implies, secluded amid trees which sweep down to a rugged coastline of sandy beaches and coves. It’s open all year.

Attractions of the area

The coastline here is spectacular; rather like Cornwall, with pretty little ports, good shopping, restaurants and pubs. Dolphin-watching boat trips and water sports including scuba diving are attractions here.

The Ceredigion Coast Path links the towns and villages dotted along the beautiful Cardigan Bay coastline. Wild flowers, seabirds and a wealth of wildlife await the walker. You can join the path at New Quay or Aberaeron.

The Park

Woodlands Park’s manager Jacqui Daniels tells us: “The park is often described by our guests as luxurious, peaceful and tranquil; a ‘hidden gem’ unlike noisier, more commercial parks. Owners here describe it as their ‘retreat’ or their ‘bolthole’ away from their
busy lives.”

Woodlands Park

“We are a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award winning park and we share the park with the wildlife, flora and fauna that abounds here – dragonflies, frogs and a heron around the pond, squirrels, blue tits, wagtails, cuckoos, rabbits; the list is endless. We even have B&Bs (Bee & Bug Insect Hotels!).”

Chalets

Several fully-refurbished chalets here are for sale at £15,995. Some are detached, some semi-detached. All have two bedrooms. Prices start at £12,500.

Lodges

Luxury lodges start at around £49,950.

A Swift Biarritz Lodge has just arrived, at £59,950. It’s 40 feet long and 13 feet wide, with two bedrooms, one double and one twin, a bathroom and an en suite. A sofa bed in the lounge sleeps an additional two people. The kitchen, dining area and lounge are open-plan.

Another example is a Prestige Homeseeker Navigator Lodge, at £119,000, with three bedrooms (two doubles and one twin).

Lodges made by ABI and Delta are arriving soon.

Other holiday parks in the group are Sunset View Park, Twyning, Tewkesbury, GL20 6DA and Little Meadow River Park, Brendon, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire GL20 7LG.

The group also has residential parks: Hill Farm Park, Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire SA72 6QD, and Saint Oswalds Park, Dunham-on-Trent, Newark, Nottinghamshire NG22 0UG.

Simply Welsh Restaurant and Farm Shop

The park has its own restaurant and farm shop. Welsh produce is the keynote here. The Farm Shop, leased from the park, provides a great range of everyday essentials from Welsh milk through to locally-sourced meat and vegetables. The tea, coffee and soft drinks are sourced from Coaltown Coffee, Morgans Brew and Llanllyr Source. Beer and spirits are from Welsh producers including the locally-based Mantle Brewery, Penderyn and Dyfi Distillery. Welsh-made ice cream is here, together with Welsh cheeses and bakery produce. There’s even a section for dogs Ð food, bowls and treats are on offer.

Woodlands Park

The restaurant specialises in seasonal produce; menus take you from breakfast through to supper. Both the restaurant and shop are dog friendly.
