Family-run Lyons Holiday Parks owns nine parks in North Wales and one in Cumbria. In this issue we focus on two parks close to beaches: Lyons’ Cumbrian park, at Allonby, and a full-on family fun park near Prestatyn.

Lyons Manor House Park

Mention Cumbria and most people think of mountains and lakes. But there’s another Cumbria hiding on the west side of those mountains – miles and miles of coastline, with beaches, historic towns – and a holiday home park at Allonby.

Lyons Manor House is just two miles from Allonby. This park, set in 14 acres, is the latest acquisition to the Lyons group of parks.

Manor House is close to the coast; there are views over the Solway Firth from here. The park has a restaurant and bar; Sunday carveries are especially popular. Live entertainment takes place at weekends as part of a comprehensive events calendar.

It’s a real family holiday park, with a great adventure play area and indoor attractions including air hockey and pool.

The park has partnership arrangements with local golf clubs, meaning that preferential rates are available to holiday home owners. In addition, Lyons’ Owners’ Select Discount Location Scheme enables owners to get discounted rates at seven major tourist attractions. Among them are Ullswater Steamers, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the Lake District Coast Aquarium at Maryport and West Coast Indoor Karting, also at Maryport. That’s a small sample, though, of the immense variety of places to visit from your holiday home at Manor House. All of this – and Allonby is within easy reach of the M6, 38 miles from Penrith.

Allonby lies between historic Maryport and Silloth, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on the edge of the Lake District National Park. You can see the mountains of southern Scotland from here, across the Solway Estuary. There’s a long sandy beach – and a long history. Allonby was a sea-bathing resort, in the 18th century when the fashion for bathing in sea water – and even drinking it – were considered to be of benefit to health.

The village retains much of its Georgian and Victorian charm, with cobbled lanes interesting buildings. Herring fishing used to take place from here; you can still see some of the old kippering houses.

Manor House has both new and used holiday homes to choose from, appealing to a wide range of budgets. You can enjoy your holiday home all year here; the park has a 12-month season.

Lyons Robin Hood Holiday Park

An all-singing, all dancing family fun holiday park – and it’s by the beach!

This park has an adventure golf course, a supermarket, a coffee lounge, an outdoor bar open in summer, a restaurant, a sports bar and loads of entertainment on offer.

On the outskirts of Prestatyn, all the ingredients of family holiday fun are right here laid out before you. A bouncy castle, funfair rides, outdoor food, and more. An entertainments team presents a huge variety of events and fun happenings both day and evening, including talent contests – and the antics of the park’s mascots, a lion, a monkey and a hippo.

Outdoor fun is guaranteed at the park’s adventure play areas, complete with climbing frames. There are basketball courts, plus an indoor soft play area for younger fun-seekers. The park’s Splash Zone offers three indoor pools, water jet fun, and the luxury of a jacuzzi.

And there’s more. An 18-hole golf course lies between the park and the Blue Flag Beach.

There’s a wide choice of holiday homes from which to choose at Robin Hood, from top luxury homes to pre-owned options.
