Heather Bank Park

Just half an hour from the Ayrshire coast, amid rolling countryside of the Scottish lowlands, lies a park home estate with panoramic views – and some high-end showhomes with very enticing prices!

Heather Bank Park is surrounded by open moorland; views stretch as far as the eye can see. Yet this park home estate is only 25 minutes from the shopping, cultural and eating enticements of Glasgow.

Heather Bank Park is one of five parks in Scotland and England owned by Laird Estates. Currently there are 30 home here. New homes are arriving, 20 new bases have already been created for more homes, there is planning consent for a total of 145 – and lots of space to create large plots set at different angles, most with views of open moorland.

Heather Bank overlooks Glennifer Brea Country Park, 480 acres of moorland where wild flowers, birdwatching and endless walking trails are the attraction.

We visited Heather Bank early this spring; light snow was on the ground but the meticulous way in which this park is maintained was nonetheless obvious.

The small town of Barrhead is three miles from the park. Silverburn Shopping Centre is 15 minutes from the park, a complexity of department stores, high street shops, a good choice of restaurants and a cinema.

Most of the new homes here are made by Omar, Wessex and Stately-Albion, though Laird Estates can obtain homes from any other manufacturer too.

Cunninghamhead Estate

A sculpture of a stag, a ‘secret garden’, an immaculately-kept park home estate with fantastic countryside views – and the coast just three miles away… Cunninghamhead is an enticing location. It’s close to the coast, at Irvine, where crab pots are piled up against the harbour wall, pretty cottagey buildings line the edge of the harbour and there’s a good choice of coffee cafés and eateries.

Even on the rainy day of our trip, Irvine has charm. And so does Cunninghamhead Estate.

The entrance has an air of grandeur, a long driveway at the top of which stands a life-sized metal sculpture of a stag, majestically looking out over fields.

The estate is immaculate. Shrubs, patios, neat grass frontages to the homes which are a variety of shades and types, most of the gardens created with quite a lot of imagination, all come together to give the estate a character.

The land slopes away from the park down to a stream here. This land will eventually be a new Laird estate, called Bluebell Park. Homes will be arranged on several levels, so that all will benefit from the views.

Cunninghamhead Estate and Bluebell Park together extend to 20 acres. Work is scheduled to begin creating Bluebell Park next year; there will be 35 new homes here – 35 opportunities to live in this beautiful, quiet location yet close to all that you need – and the beaches…

Warren Park

Warren Park, in Shropshire, is the head office of Laird Estates. It’s a beautiful, mature park with a well-established community atmosphere. For example, there’s an annual garden competition, hog roast and charity events are periodically held in the area in the centre of the park known as the green. It’s a parkland setting with a central rockery and a small water feature.

Warren Park is in open countryside just four miles from Market Drayton, 10 miles from Shrewsbury, 14 from Whitchurch and 14 from Telford. A community bus service comes to the park and goes to all of those places.

Fairview Park

A haven of tranquillity in Cheshire, Fairview is in the village of Wrenbury, five miles south of Nantwich. Most of the homes have far-reaching countryside views.

Part-exchange scheme

Laird Estates operates a part-exchange scheme for all of its parks. It works like this: Two local estate agents give prices for the house that the park home purchaser part-exchanges. Laird Estates buys the house and pays the solicitor’s fee for the conveyance. This means that there is no delay in moving into a park home and takes away all of the stress of moving. Furthermore, there is a week’s gap between taking possession of the park home and moving out of the original home, so the moving process doesn’t have to be done all in one day.
