Park home review: Tingdene Barnwell

0885f1c1-42f4-4f35-afbf-b7042bd8649e

Tingdene has a range of 10 park homes, all enticingly gorgeous in their very different ways, all with bags of individuality and style. One, though, stands out not so much for amazing style as for its popularity. That’s the Barnwell.

Why should this long-established model have garnered such a following among buyers? The answer is quite simple. It has a totally separate lounge and its kitchen is a totally separate room, too. That, of course, mirrors traditional house layouts.

It’s not Tingdene’s only home with a separate lounge – the Regency Classic offers a similar arrangement. But the Barnwell seems to have established itself a reputation for being the perfect park home for a lot of people.

As a result of the popularity, there are Barnwell show homes on several of Tingdene Parks’ developments, among them are Hazelgrove Park, at Saltburn-by-the-Sea on the Yorkshire coast; Badgerwood Park, close to Wokingham, in Berkshire; and Ashwood Park, at Wincham in Cheshire.

A cosy home

If there is a single word that best describes the Barnwell, it’s cosiness. Yes, that’s partly about its stand-out attribute, the separate lounge, with its box-bay windows on three sides. The room spans the entire width of the home, so it’s spacious. It comes traditionally furnished with a three-piece suite and smart, white fireplace that houses a cottage-style log-burner effect fire. The double doors that open to the dining area give buyers the opportunity to use the living area in a semi open-plan way, which is a nice option to have, but the whole point about the Barnwell is its cosy, secluded lounge.

The kitchen, too, has a cosy feel; an almost square room with a U-shaped working surface plus an additional area on the opposite wall that houses the built-in, waist-height double oven. A washing machine and dishwasher are both integrated into the cabinetry.

As with many park homes, you can have a Barnwell in a choice of sizes, 40ft, 42ft, 45ft, 46ft or 50ft long (that model has a study). All models are 20ft wide.
