Park Home Review: Lissett Homes

Discovery

The Discovery has two bedrooms and a living area that’s divided into three distinct regions – a spacious lounge, a dining alcove and a U-shaped kitchen, all integrated, yet with a suggestion of open-plan which ensures the home feels and looks spacious. The main windows of the lounge look out onto wide decking running almost the whole length of the home. The dining alcove is opposite, conveniently alongside the kitchen.

A part-wall separates the kitchen from the lounge. Behind it, an L-shaped unit contains drawers and a wine chiller. Gorgeous slim, gloss-brown tiles, horizontally aligned, catch the eyes as you walk into this area; the feature design also runs around the rest of the kitchen – and in fact defines it, for the Discovery’s kitchen has an unusual layout – there are two L-shaped areas. The larger L-shape houses the five-burner hob, combined oven-grill and microwave.

One of the hallmarks of Lissett’s fine quality is the choice of furniture – and the Discovery’s four-seater dining suite is surely one of the finest we have ever seen anywhere. It’s made in Italy, as is most of the furniture with which Lissett homes are equipped. It has a pattern created by veneer. Oil used on the veneer accentuates the different colours in the wood used to create the pattern, then eight layers of lacquer are applied to produce an exceptionally high-gloss finish.

Odyssey

The Odyssey has a linear layout, with the main door on one end; this is a park home like no other. From the entrance hall, the living area stretches out before you – first the study, secluded alongside the front door, then the kitchen with a breakfast bar to reinforce the linear idea that leads you on, to the dining area –and then finally to the lounge, which spans the width of the home. Patio doors lead from both the dining area, on the side of the home, and the lounge, on the front.

The Odyssey has a study. A desk is integrated within a beautifully crafted array of cabinets and shelving, all in appealingly pale woodwork. Lissett manufactures all of its own furniture in its factory near York; attention to detail is noticeable in the finish, especially the finely rounded corners.

Designed on the galley theme, the Odyssey’s kitchen has its cooking area on one end. The hob has five burners. The combined oven-grill and microwave are in a tower-style unit to the right of the hob, with cabinets above and below. Three wide, soft-close drawers are below the hob, flanked by two cabinets. More cabinets, one of them hiding the dishwasher, run along below the sink areas, and the fridge-freezer is beyond.

Two more cabinets and three more drawers are housed in a unit that forms the central feature of the kitchen.

This kitchen has an enormous amount of worktop, with areas on both sides of the sink and hob as well as the long stretch of surface in the central area.

The dining area leads off from the kitchen, open-plan style, yet it has its own identity – that’s largely down to a part-wall that borders the edge of the kitchen where the fridge-freezer stands, so the dining area feels wider than the kitchen. A large four-seater table stands in the centre; a sideboard with
a marble-effect top that matches the table and the kitchen surfaces, is opposite the window, adding to the amount of storage space for kitchen and table paraphernalia.

The lounge is 22 feet wide and just over 11 feet long. Windows are on three sides, all with very efficient double glazing which blocks out all noise. A focal point is the inset log-effect, remote-controlled fire, above which is a media centre, hidden behind a cabinet door, and a place for a TV.

Échappé

The Échappé is a home of immense style and stunning, ultra-modern character to truly inspire you to ‘Escape’ into a new lifestyle.

This is a high-end home of breathtaking style in a stunningly simple colour palette of greys and white. It’s a head-turning creation, packed with luxuries – and with a name that precisely conjures thoughts of a new lifestyle, perfectly in line with a reason many people buy a park home: Échappé translates from French as ‘escape’ – and it’s a name that also conveys a touch of classic elegance; Échappé is a term for a classical ballet move meaning ‘escaping’.

In the dining room and lounge, lighting is set into the white plank ceiling. All walls are a subtle shade of white. The dining area has a floor-to-ceiling window and both areas have tall feature radiators. Bay windows are on one side of this light and airy room, the whole front elevation is windows, and French doors are on the other side.

The kitchen is truly awesome for its styling and the level of equipment. It has two ovens, one fan-assisted (electric) and the second is a combi microwave oven (which browns the food as well as cooks it). Underneath the microwave is a warming drawer. These ovens are side-by-side – and they’re inset into the wall. Cabinets are above and drawers beneath, with soft-close hinges and drawer runners.

The bay window really makes you feel that this isn’t a park home kitchen; it’s very high-end domestic and with light flooding in not just from this large window but from a Velux opening roof window – which has a remote control for both the opening function and its blind. And the most impressive bit? It has a rain sensor; when rain begins, the window closes automatically.

Arabesque

An imposing entrance with an overhanging peaked roof section, box-bay windows and an open-plan layout characterise the Arabeque, together with its distinctive silvery-grey exterior. Windows and doors in a shade called anthracite define the shape.

Inside, cool greys and whites create ultra-modern styling. The dining furniture is Scandinavian; the Nordic look continues with wooden flooring and a dark wood sideboard.

An island breakfast bar sits in the centre of the U-shaped kitchen.

This model has a fitted study, with a designer chair.

A feature of the main bedroom is a slim window above the padded headboard. The white-and-dark styling of the dressing table, wardrobe and drawers unit is stunning. The second bedroom has a curved, corner dressing table.

The spacious (50ft 6in x 22ft3ins) Arabesque comes complete with a ´55-inch television.
