The word ‘Arden’ means ‘great forest’. Little surprise, then, that Omar’s latest lodge of that name has a strong country, woodland vibe. This is a single lodge (15ft wide), packed with luxury and beautifully designed to feel and look more spacious than its dimensions would suggest.

Wood plays a major role in the Arden’s décor. Not just for its beautiful flooring but on a feature clad wall, in the lounge, that mimics aged wood. The extending dining table is also aged wood style, this time with a suggestion of farmhouse style.

Tartan-inspired pattern plays a strong part, too – for the curtains, the big, circular pendant lightshades, Roman-style blinds on the side windows and also the armchair.

We love this combination of styling – opulent and at the same time slightly rustic – that would be very much at home in a lovely woodland park location. We also love the three black, tall, feature radiators in the lounge, injecting bold modernity amid the woodland theme. 

The Arden’s split roofline defines this lodge as a head-turner on a park. Inside, the roofline injects an interesting dimension to the windows of the front elevation, with one of the triangular glazed areas above the windows larger than the other.

The layout is semi open-plan. Clever positioning of the sofa creates a clear demarcation between the lounge area and the dining-kitchen, together with a part-wall on which one of the three tall radiators is mounted.

An intriguing feature of the Arden is that it has two alternative lounge dining area layouts. That’s not, as you might imagine, two from which to choose before you buy. It’s two ways in which the furniture can be arranged to create two very different looks.

A complete front wall of windows including two French doors, plus two full-height side windows and, opposite, a high, slim horizontal window, together ensure this area is airy and light.

The kitchen is a well-planned delight. Storage capacity is generous, with four top cabinets and three lower cupboards alongside the integrated dishwasher and washing machine. And the extractor fan is so well integrated into the top cabinetry that you don’t notice it. Surface space is plentiful, in three areas, to the left and right of the hob and to the left of the sink.

Alongside the charming woodland theme, there’s a gorgeous, high-gloss tile thread running through the Arden. The tiles that form the kitchen splash-back – and also a strong style feature – are dark grey; very smart. In the shower en suite and bathroom, the same lovely tile style appears in soft fawn, a hue that very much adheres of the country vibe of the Arden.

The tartan theme continues invthe bedrooms; padded headboards have tartan fabric frames in a soft green and there are bed sashes to match. The main bedroom is large, and with a sophisticated layout. The king-size bed sits in the centre of the room. Doors are on each side of the bed. One leads to the luxuriously spacious en suite bathroom, the other into the walk-in wardrobe; impressively capacious, with six large shelves on one side of the hanging area, plus a shelf running across the top.

Two full-height windows on one side of the bedroom and one on the other ensure that it’s a delightfully bright environment. This is a lovely relaxing room with an air of elegance, lots of space and plenty of storage capability in three dressing table drawers, a suite of over-bed cabinets, plus bedside cabinets each with two drawers.
