Imagine your own place in the county of cider, history and beaches… And lodges are now at a special price!

What’s special about Somerset?

Somerset is a glorious county. It’s a place of magnificent, serene hill scenery and pretty villages of quaint charm. It’s famed for its production of cider and cheese – and it’s home to England’s smallest city, the historically fascinating Wells.

Added to all of that, there’s a lovely stretch of coastline to explore. Somerset’s mild climate is an attraction, too – so walking, in particular, is a delight here. For many reasons, Somerset is surely one of the best places to buy a holiday home – and Wells Touring Park, with an impressive luxury lodge development, is in the county's heart.

Not only that, this park is a mere mile from the city of Wells and just 25 minutes’ drive from the coast. It has the best of a lot of worlds – including some of the finest views in the county, of the Mendip Hills, right from your lodge. It’s easy to picture yourself relaxing and spending quality leisure time in this lovely region.

Days out in Somerset?

You can start by exploring the medieval city of Wells. The magnificent cathedral that dates to the thirteenth century and the enchanting Bishop’s Palace, with a moat and 14 acres of gardens, home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for 800 years…

Wells Cathedral

There is so much to discover in Wells – and to enjoy visiting again and again. Watch the swans on the moat, perhaps, meander through the gardens – and then find one of the many coffee shops and eateries in the city.

When compared to Devon, Dorset or Cornwall, Somerset’s coastline may be small, but it packs in a lot to entice you to explore – and then return time after time. Take Somerset’s prime resort, for a start. Weston-super-Mare has a long stretch of beach; perfect for walking all year.

The Bishop's Gardens

Weston has a traditional resort appeal – a spectacular pier, a two-mile-long promenade (ideal for cycling, walking – or taking the land train) and a long, lovely beach. You can watch kite surfing and other watersports, or partake of that most British of seaside culinary traditions – fish and chips!

There are over 10 beaches along this stretch of coastline. There’s the sand and shingle of Minehead, the seven-mile expanse of Brean Beach and Burnham-on-Sea, which is a small, traditional resort.

There are lesser-known beaches to explore – among them are the rock pools of Kilve Beach, the sand and pebbles of Dunster Beach, the delightful Wells Cathedral remoteness of Sand Bay and the rocky Glenthorne Beach.

Harbours in Somerset

Porlock Weir

And there are picturesque and fascinatingly ancient little harbours at Porlock Weir and Watchet to discover, and the nine-legged lighthouse on the sands at Burnham-on-Sea, which has become something of a symbol of the Somerset coast.

All this and more is less than half an hour from the luxury lodges of Wells Touring Park, where you can relax in your own environment and enjoy your own slice of Somerset – with views of the Mendip Hills from your lodge.

Walking in Somerset

And then plan your next day – perhaps exploring those hills. They’re a walkers’ paradise and ideal for cycling, too, with miles of minor roads and countryside to explore. The park has a delightful character, immaculately landscaped and with the bonus of a café lounge bar with a good selection of wines (picture inset) – the perfect place to make new friends among the lodge owners.

There’s a relaxed, refined atmosphere here. And they deliver newspapers to the park every day. Wells Touring Park is open all year. This park has an ever-changing holiday atmosphere because, as the name implies, it has a touring area for motorhomes and caravans.

And it’s quiet; this park is for adults only. Tempted? This is a very special and charming place. We’ve visited Wells Touring Park several times, explored the city of Wells and the beaches, found the local supermarkets (of which there are several), relaxed – and vowed to return.

The lodges – a special offer

The Studio's bedroomThe park has two lodge plots left on its current phase of development. These are bespoke lodges, designed specially to the park’s brief, with open-plan lounge-dining areas, enormous window areas and a luxurious level of equipment including an American-style fridge-freezer.

Buyers can personalise their lodge by choosing fittings and fabrics from a wide range of options. And, for a limited period, they’re at a special offer price, to mark the start of 2020.

A 10% price reduction starts in January and will run until the end of March, designed to tempt you to make 2020 your year to buy a new luxury lodge.
