Holiday home review: Willowbank Holiday Home and Touring Park

Dunes, woodland and relaxation — Fancy a holiday home close to the coast, surrounded by nature and close to an elegant resort-town?

The little-known Sefton coastline in the north-west is a beautiful region of beaches and dunes, backed by natural woodland. This is a lovely region in which to own a holiday home, just five miles from the elegant Victorian resort of Southport.

Willowbank Holiday Home and Touring Park is a delightfully relaxing place where you can truly unwind in your own holiday home. And the park is open for 50 weeks of the year.

The park covers almost 30 acres and is home to more than 200 holiday homes. There’s always a good choice of both new and pre-owned holiday homes for sale.

Wheelchair-friendly holiday park

The park is entirely fenced and is totally flat. Because the park is level, holiday home-owners with mobility challenges and those who use wheelchairs find it easy to move around. The roads are well surfaced and illuminated. Every holiday home plot has car parking space. The park has its own laundry.

A convenience store and Post Office are close by. Families are catered for in the form of a small playground and a football area.

The park offers a delightful haven. It’s separated from the road by sheltering, dense woodland. There’s no pub or club on the park — so you can relax in a natural environment at all times. And when you want to eat out, there are some great restaurants and bars in the nearby villages of Ainsdale and Birkdale.

Local interest

The area has a lot to offer without venturing very far when you want a day or half day away exploring. Among the attractions of the region is Formby National Trust Nature Reserve, famous for its red squirrels.

Formby Beach is just 10 minutes from the park. The Sefton coastline is spread out before you — a great place for birdwatching. You can explore Southport’s Botanic Gardens — and then Southport‘s town centre, with its Victorian inland promenade of shops called Lord Street.

You can get to Southport Pier in 15 minutes from the park, and you can be at Martin Mere Wetlands Centre in 30 minutes; that’s an attraction which is fascinating at all times of the year for its migrating swans and permanent residents which include flamingos.

Walking and cycling along the Trans Pennine Trail is an attraction, too. And the cultural attractions of Liverpool are just 40 minutes away.

Owning a holiday home at Willowbank gives you endless days-out opportunities to suit all tastes. And after the day out? The park is a lovely place in which to relax and unwind.
