Holiday home review: Willerby Castleton

87e427c7-4265-43c1-80b5-a0d50625a499

Named after a beautiful village in Derbyshire’s Peak District, surrounded by hills and epitomising all that is enticing about the outdoor leisure lifestyle

A spacious lounge

Willerby’s Castleton has a spacious lounge with a wide-open aspect. That’s thanks to the seating being arranged along one side and curving into an L-shape in front of the main front window. This layout means there is plenty of floor space. There’s also plenty of natural light, from floor-to-ceiling windows on one side, an angled window reaching up into the apex above the main front window, and a door at the front to lead to your decking.

A perfect choice for families

It’s not just lounge floor space that makes the Castleton special – and ideal for families. The dining area is separate from the lounge. It’s opposite the kitchen and takes on a cosy nook appeal, recessed in its own area bounded by a shelf unit that, importantly, is equipped with sockets, television connections and USB ports. This can be the kids’ zone – or the parents’ TV retreat when the children are dominating the lounge. Seating stretches along the wall and there are two cylindrical stools; a splendidly versatile arrangement as these can be moved to the lounge when you wish.

Specification

The 38ft by 12ft Castleton is available in two layouts. The two-bedroom version has a shower and toilet en suite to the main bedroom, where there’s a king-size bed with a lift-up base for storage.

The twin beds are full domestic, 3ft width. The two-bedroom Castleton offers buyers the option of a bath with shower above it, instead of the shower in the family shower room. The three-bedroom version has a double, rather than a king-size bed, slightly narrower single beds in both twin rooms, and a toilet en suite to the main bedroom. Both versions have touch-sensitive bedroom lighting.

The finer details

Yellow is the delightful accent colour of the Castleton, contrasting with the cool greys. It appears in the cushions and, subtly, in the pattern of the curtains (along with greys and fawns). It’s also the colour of the splashback behind the hob; here, it’s a vivid yellow; a splash of bright, sunny colour that looks stunning.

Kitchen equipment is a four-burner hob, an oven/grill and a microwave built into the cabinetry – with a four-bottle wine rack above it. The fridge/freezer is a 70/30 configuration, positioned near to the dining area.
