Holiday home review: Tingdene Viewpoint

f1c465a4-327e-404b-8455-7b64010eaaf7

A wood burner in the lounge, a games room, styling that brings together ‘concrete’ look, gold velvet and antique silver – the amazing new Viewpoint has features that make it not just futuristic but pioneering, too. It’s a masterpiece of artistic styling.

This is a lodge designed for buyers looking for the super modern, the style statement, the way-out ahead in style. The Viewpoint is all of those things, as well as having a cosy, welcoming feel. Tingdene Homes tells us that the Viewpoint is designed for ‘the modern adventurer’ and we can understand that totally.

Tingdene explains the design ethos behind this family lodge: “This holiday retreat will encourage family holidays where you can bond through nature or just relax in style after a day of exploring.”

The Viewpoint is available in two variations. One has a pool table and games area; the other has a dining area and extended kitchen.

This new lodge is built to BS3632 (residential) standards. It’s stacked with amazing style points such as the black interior doors and kitchen units in steel and copper finish.

It has flat, smooth-finish ceilings and tongue-and-groove effect walls, creating an almost industrially stark effect that enhances the Viewpoint’s ultra-modern vibe.

The handleless kitchen units, in a combination of stainless steel and subtle copper, adhere beautifully to the stark concept; the copper tone injects a warmth alongside the black surfaces. We love the glass and filament-bulb pendant lights that hang over the kitchen and dining table; again, a touch of industrial chic in style, but softened.

Four leather breakfast bar stools sit up to the kitchen’s island. There’s a five-burner, glass-top hob with a downdraft extractor fan that rises automatically from the worktop when switched on. The sink is a one-and a-half-bowl unit. Integrated appliances are an electric oven with microwave above, a dishwasher, fridge/freezer and wine cooler. A skylight ensures the kitchen is always light and bright.

The lounge décor is perhaps the Viewpoint’s most avant-garde style element. A wall panel finished in paper designed to mimic super-smooth concrete (and looks stunning) with, inset, a vertical panel into which small cut logs are inserted, as if it were a woodstore. Well, it is close to the wood burner that sits on a black plinth at the end of the ‘concrete’ wall!

The lounge style elements include an ‘antique silver’ mirror, an armchair upholstered in gold-coloured velvet and a corner three-seater sofa.

The games area in models that have that feature has a 6ft pool table, two leather and wood armchairs, a bar area and two tan bar chairs.

The dining area has six leather chairs and a pendant light above the table.

In the entrance hall is a bench seat with a storage area below, plus coat hooks.

Both bedrooms have en suite shower rooms with fully tiled walls and black towel warmers.

King-size beds are in both bedrooms. Both have built-in wardrobes and dressing tables with stools.
