Holiday Home Review: Pemberton Leisure Homes

Abingdon

The Abingdon has been completely redesigned or 2019, with a country cottage feel. The version we review here is the 42ft x 13ft; a smaller size is available.

Sliding doors divide the lounge from the dining-kitchen; these are an option so, if you prefer a more open-plan aspect, you won’t need the doors.

The country cottage theme of the Abingdon is created in the lounge by both furniture style (slightly traditional) and fabrics. We love the mustard-yellow curtains and cushions, with a classic bold floral pattern in white and a little brown.  We also love the long, central stool – use it for sitting on or for feet-up reclining; This is a lovely cosy lounge.

Kitchen

We love U-shaped kitchens for their convenience. This one packs in a lot of surface, plenty of storage, a small-sized dishwasher and a washer-dryer, as well as, of course, a fridge-freezer.

Shaker-style, country-inspired cabinets and handles look superb and incorporate a four-bottle wine rack.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Through the white-and-glass door, along the corridor we find the twin bedroom first, with bold plum colour combined with tmatt pale grey cabinetry. And there’s a surprise: a pendant light, with a filigree-design shade from which hang 20 lines of crystals – a sort of modern take on a chandelier! The same amazing pendant light is in the main bedroom.

A door opens from the bedroom into the shower room; there’s also a door leading into here from the corridor. .

Marlow

The Marlow is distinguished by its slightly bow-front design, with side windows angled to emphasise the central front double opening windows.

The lounge-dining-kitchen area is a cleverly designed meld of both open plan and separate room concepts. The lounge is a separate entity, with one of the two settees forming a demarcation. An archway marks the separation, too, along with a part-wall on one side. Yet even though these feel almost like two rooms, there is a wide, spacious open-plan aspect.

We’re reviewing the 37ft x 12ft Marlow; Pemberton also produces a stretched version, measuring 40ft x 13ft.

Lounge

The accent colour is soft purple, in a stunning geometric design, with white, for the curtains and cushions. Purple mixes with dark brown for the upholstery on the armchair; again in a geometric design, this time in a different pattern. Details combine to create a luxurious, quality look; curtains hang on chunky chrome poles and are secured, together with voiles, by beautiful tassels trimmed with three sparkling crystal beads.

Kitchen-dining area

Dining chairs are ultra-comfortable, high-backed and upholstered in fine leather-effect fabric.

The L-shaped kitchen has plenty of surface space, finished in a high-quality matt, natural stone-effect. Appliances are a washer-dryer, a small-sized dishwasher and a microwave, plus a cooker with four-burner hob. The fridge-freezer is housed opposite the kitchen.

Bedrooms

The main bedroom has a desk-style dressing table with an upholstered stool, a large wardrobe, four wall cabinets flanking the bed, all with gloss cream doors. It’s a luxuriously relaxing environment.

In the second bedroom you can either have one single bed or two (if you opt for one, you get more floor space, of course).

Rivington

If you like space, you’ll love this Rivington. It’s a massive 42ft x 14ft. And it’s new for 2019.

The extra width creates a massive living space, with both a breakfast bar and a dining area and a large lounge. The stone-effect kitchen surface that we had admired in the Marlow is here, together with plenty of cabinets, a full-sized dishwasher, microwave and the same big cooker as in the Marlow. The key difference, apart from space, is that, in the Rivington, you have a two-seat breakfast bar; it seems to be the hub of this holiday home, overlooking the lounge and its full front wall of windows.

Lounge

The settee curves slightly towards the front window, serving to emphasise the window’s enormity as well as providing a cosy corner to snuggle into. Sitting here, you’re facing the log-effect fire on the half-wall that divides the lounge from the kitchen, and your television. Above, the shelves amid the suite of cabinets enables you to personalise your Rivington by placing ornaments here.

Bedrooms

A white door opens into the corridor that takes you to the Rivington’s bedrooms and bathrooms. If you come to Pemberton’s showground to see a Rivington, prepare to be amazed. The extra width and length that this large holiday home provides enables the designers to create a super-luxury bedroom with both a walk-in wardrobe-dressing room and a bathroom en suite.

In the second bedroom you can opt for a single bed or twin beds. Both bedrooms have plush fabrics and luxury styling. The family shower room has the same impressive tile design that we had spotted in the Marlow – just nice!
