Country-style luxury

With a design inspired by the natural tapestry of country influences – plus a hint of tartan – the Harrogate has a charming character

The Harrogate is ABI’s top-luxury lodge. It’s for both holiday and residential use.

This is a country style lodge through-and-through, with a classic lodge shape to instantly mark it out as having a rustic character, and country-themed interior styling. Pale wood blends with bold red tartan-theme fabrics plus white and grey. It’s a stunning mix of colours and textures. (There’s an alternative colour scheme, using deeper grey for the seating units; both are equally attractive.)

Large opening windows at the front and on either side of the lodge mean the entire front lets in light. The central sector of this window arrangement rises high into the apex of the roof with two narrow windows. There’s a skylight above the kitchen to make sure that area, too, is exceptionally bright.

The wooden beam which runs along the apex of the roof extends down the centre of the front window arrangement. Narrow outline beams run along the tops of all the walls.

The pale, distressed wood theme of the furniture continues around the two mirrors that enhance the spacious look of the lounge. Two cabinets, one dresser-style and the other coffee table height, plus two large, three-seater sofas, furnish the Harrogate’s lounge in a luxuriously homely style.

Hallway

The Harrogate has a rather impressive entrance: a wide corridor space with a tartan-upholstered seat on which to perch while you take off your shoes, five big coat hooks and a dresser with a large mirror – so that you can tidy your hair as you come in out of the wind. Wood makes a big décor statement here – not just in the dresser and the mirror frame but in a large framed board on which sit the coat hooks.

Dining area

The four-seater dining table sits in the corner of the big open-plan living space, in an area bordered by two windows. The comfortable high-backed chairs are upholstered in fabric that matches the pale grey of the sofas.

Kitchen

Kitchen

A breakfast bar with three high chairs – upholstered in tartan – marks the edge of the kitchen, which has a sizeable U-shaped surface and, for the cabinets, more of the gorgeous, pale distressed-look wood that defines the Harrogate.

Kitchen storage space is immense, including three drawers beneath the five-burner hob. Wooden dividers segment the top one; there are eight large compartments for cutlery and cooking utensils! All the lower cabinet doors are in the distressed wood style; the top cabinets and the top (cutlery and utensil) drawer are matt cream, with a wood-grain.

The fridge-freezer sits alongside the microwave, grill and oven, in a unit which marries both the matt cream and the wood theme. The whole effect screams out ultra luxury modern country cottage.

Utility room

Hidden away along the corridor, almost opposite the hallway, is the utility room, with a washing machine, a sink and drainer plus a large double-doored cabinet.

A utility room gives you significant extra space, enabling you to ensure the kitchen stays tidy!

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Bedroom

The décor in the bedrooms is a country cottage delight; a blend of plain pastel turquoise with a subtle weave and traditional floral pattern for the curtains, plus panels within the headboard framed in wood. The total look is trimmed with three cushions on each bed. It’s a relaxing décor combination.

There’s an alternative scheme, which replaces the predominant turquoise with shades of pink – restful and pretty. Which would we choose? It’s a close call; both are stunning.

The en suite is ultra stylish too, continuing the wood theme in the décor and introducing rock-effect in an attractive panel of small tiles in the shower.

The main bathroom also has rock effect as a style feature, this time in a panel of horizontally-aligned tiles over the bath, in a shade that matches the woodwork which surrounds the vast mirror and creates shelving, plus the cabinet in which the basin sits.

The Harrogate was first unveiled two years ago. It’s ABI’s first venture into the luxury lodge market and has, since it arrived on the market, amassed a considerable following among buyers. It’s available in two and three bedroom layouts.

Features include an integrated Bluetooth sound system with speakers set into the ceiling, USB ports and extra deep pocket-sprung mattresses that are made exclusively for ABI. The walls are thick, to allow for domestic style doors and door frames.

The Harrogate is available in two sizes and layouts, a 41ft by 20ft two-bedroom layout and a 42ft by 20ft lodge with three bedrooms.
