Heatherbank Park - A Scottish Paradise

01d8b003-7564-4e45-b454-02bc5e7619d9

Heatherbank Park is in the delightfully named Shillford Hamlet, in East Renfrewshire, adjacent to Glennifer Brae Country Park. It’s part of the Laird Estates group of parks, in Scotland and England.

It’s a charming place with an open aspect; views of Glennifer Brae and distant mountains are all around – and roe deer can be seen close to the park every day at dusk and dawn.

Heatherbank Park is steadily developing, becoming more and more appealing each time we come here (this is our third visit) and now has 50 park homes; more bases are currently being created. The homes are set at differing angles and many of the plots are large, so there’s scope for keen gardeners to create attractive surroundings for their homes.

Two new show homes are now on the park and two more will be arriving in the coming months.

Location

Heatherbank is within easy day-out distance are the Isle of Skye, Fort William and Oban, known as the sea fish capital of Scotland. Kim Bannister, who looks after sales on the park and lives there with her husband, Steven, hosted our visit: “We go to Oban regularly – often to buy oysters,” she told us. “Shopping is easy: Silverburn and Braehead´ shopping centres are both 15 minutes away and we are five minutes from shops at Neilston – and every supermarket delivers to the park. We’re also just 30 minutes from the coast, at Irvine. The way of life here is super-convenient.”

Show home

Stately-Albion Platinum Topaz £131,500; 50ftx20ft

The Platinum Topaz is a bespoke version of the Topaz.

Its huge kitchen with island unit mixes traditional and modern elements and even brings in a suggestion of farmhouse style with the Rangemaster cooker, with a six burner hob, two ovens and a warmer.

The sink is Belfast-style, set into a granite work surface. Two high chairs sit at the end of island unit, which houses cabinets and drawers. .

The dining area is in a recess bordered by the double doors that lead to the lounge and the part-wall with a curved edge that is a feature style of both this show home and the Stately-Albion Chatsworth Gold which we also review here.

The bathroom is awesomely luxurious, with a raised jet-whirlpool bath; you take two steps up to the bath from the floor – and one step has tiny LED cluster lights set into it.

The Topaz has a study – or you could use this room as a single bedroom.

The main bedroom has a bay window. A dressing alcove corridor, with wardrobes on one side and a dressing table on the other, leads to the shower en suite.

The Topaz is complete with mono-block driveway and skirting. As with many homes at Heatherbank, buyers can opt to have a garage.

Stately Chatsworth Gold £125,000; 50ftx20ft

By the door is a small seat to perch when you take off your footwear, plus coat hooks, two drawers and a coat cabinet. The kitchen is ahead of us as we step inside. The four-burner hob is set into an island unit.

Lots of storage space is a key element of this kitchen – and there’s a utility alcove, with an extra sink and more cabinets, by the back door.

The kitchen is quite separate from the lounge, yet the whole living area has an open-plan feel.

A door closes off the corridor to the bedroom area. As we explore, we first find the bathroom, with a useful touch: an airing cupboard; then the bedrooms.

Every wardrobe in this home, and also in the Platinum Topaz, has a radiator inside it!

And the home’s heating is controllable in three zones, so that you can have your bedrooms cooler than your lounge if you wish.
