Willerby’s Dorchester has a country theme to its styling, emphasised by the log burner-effect, cottage-style stove. Lounge cosiness is paramount in a holiday home and the Dorchester answers that need amply; settees are traditional in styling, with roll arms, and dining chairs are high-backed and comfortably upholstered.
It’s charming and rather unusual in styling – that’s why I chose it as this issue’s Editor’s Pick of holiday homes. The Dorchester is Willerby’s largest holiday home, at 42ft by 14ft. It’s a limited edition holiday home and serves to emphasise that open plan doesn’t have to always be ultra-modern.
This holiday home’s lounge is almost square, making it rather traditional and very homely. One of the two settees forms the demarcation between the lounge and the dining-kitchen. The table sits in the centre of the kitchen which forms an L shape around it.
Appliances are a five-burner hob, oven and microwave. A wine cooler and washing machine are optional extras. A corner pantry cabinet contains shelving and plenty of tall space in which to store an ironing board and vacuum. That practicality is another reason why the Dorchester makes it to Editor’s Pick status.
The main bedroom is spacious, with a walk-in wardrobe plus a large en suite which contains a bath and over-bath shower.
The lounge colour palette is classic fawns, with tartan-inspired cushions and a large tartan-upholstered central footstool-seat. Curtains have an abstract leaf pattern; another nod to traditional styling.
