Charteroak: Exclusive lodges in natural settings

Panoramic views of rolling Cornish agricultural lands, cascading waterways, lakes and seclusion – with options such as a hot tub set into your decking and integrated spa and cinema rooms… Sounds like holiday home paradise!

In South Cornwall, two parks that offer ultra luxurious holiday lodges have lots of options on offer for buyers. These are Stonerush Lakes, seven miles from the quaint fishing villages of Polperro and Fowey,
and Southern Halt, between Liskeard and Bodmin, where a new phase, called Meadow Retreat, has some very special plots available.
These two sites are owned by Charteroak, which specialises in the creation of high quality lodge environments. Lodges are specifically built for the parks and can be bespoke-created to buyers’ requirements.

STONERUSH LAKES

Stonerush Lakes is a 28-acre site in the agricultural heartland of Cornwall. Two homes remain available in the Lake View area of this park. One of these is a large, new design with two-bedrooms and extensive decking.

Valley View is the final phase at Stonerush Lakes where seven of the nine plots are still available at the time of writing. Valley View has been specifically designed to take advantage of the views across the valley towards the farmland beyond. All of the lodges here have decking that runs along the south and west facing elevations and have the option that the deck can incorporate a hot tub.

THE AREA

Two charming, unspoilt little villages are nearby. Quaint Lanreath is two miles from the park. The village is famous for its Farm and Folk Museum. Pelynt, with its 400-year-old coaching inn, is close by.

The three quiet beaches of Talland Bay are six miles away and Looe is seven miles away. Restaurants and some very old pubs are in this fascinating town whose main street leads down to a beach.

SOUTHERN HALT

Southern Halt, at the village of Dobwalls, conveniently close to the A38, and a short drive to the coast at Looe, Polperro and Fowey, has a new development phase, called Meadow Retreat.

In line with the popularity of holiday lodges near water, an impressive water feature has been created at Meadow Retreat, running throughout this striking area of the park. Wild flower planting has been carried out, to enhance the natural appeal of the park.

The phase will accommodate 23 lodges and there are show homes available to view so prospective buyers will be able to get a good feel of what the environment has to offer.

Sam Weller, Sales Director at Southern Halt and Stonerush Lakes, says: "Buyers can choose a one, two or three-bedroom home and they can talk to us about kitchen, bathroom, flooring, tiling and décor options – we are keen to work with buyers to meet their preferences and tastes.”

Lodges are also available in the Faraway Fields area. “We have plots available here where customers can buy off-plan and we also have lodges that have already been built, ideal for those wanting to start their holidays straight away,” adds Sam.

THE AREA

The market town of Liskeard has its roots deep in Cornish mining history. It was granted its first charter in 1240. Its history has left a legacy of fine buildings and facades including a magnificent Victorian clocktower.

THE CHARTEROAK EXPERIENCE

Charteroak is a developer of high-quality holiday lodge parks in South Cornwall. The sites are chosen for their appealing locations in areas where people like to have a second home, but more importantly for the environment of the site, with views, proximity to water or complete seclusion.

The schemes are developed with an emphasis on well-conceived native planting and the introduction of streams and areas of water to provide the best micro location and aspect for each lodge.

Charteroak says: “We pride ourselves on creating developments with a much lower site density than many other locations, meaning a Charteroak lodge provides greater privacy and outside space for guests to enjoy.

“Lodges have been around for some time now but by looking to innovate, we want to create more forward-thinking lodge designs, anticipating and then providing what the customers of today expect, plus one or two added features they might not! This is best illustrated by some of our new innovations, from the indulgent luxury of the iSpaTM with its integral spa facilities and private cinema room, to the Sky Terrace with its elevated deck, making more of the panoramic views of the Cornish countryside.

“The result of all of the above is a holiday home that provides a significant sense of space, an environment that the lodge feels a part of and a unique holiday home with amenities tailored for you. This is the Charteroak Experience.”
