Beaconsfield Holiday Park: Bespoke Lodges by Fishing Pools

A short drive from the character town of Shrewsbury and nestled in the Shropshire countryside, Beaconsfield Holiday Park is a five-star graded park with a restaurant and a swimming pool.

Holiday home plots are available – some bordering fishing pools – and bespoke lodges are for sale and for hire.

The lodges here are called Beaconsfield Bespoke – because they are designed and made by the family-owned company which runs the park. There is a selection of two-bedroom and one-bedroom lodges, all with en suite shower rooms. Decking areas can be designed to your requirements. All plots have a parking space.

The park has an 11-month season; it’s open for Christmas and New Year and closes for two weeks in January.

Beaconsfield, which has an adults-only touring section, has been awarded five stars for 19 consecutive years by the English Tourist Board. The park has been run by the Poole family for 20 years.

Because there are lodges available to rent, this is a park where you can effectively try before you buy. You can hire a lodge for a short break or longer – and the cost of your rental is refunded if you subsequently decide to buy a lodge here. The price of hire ranges from £400 – £700 per week and £395 – £675 for a three-night weekend stay, depending on the lodge and time of year. Some of the lodges have hot tubs on the decking.

Course fishing is an attraction at Beaconsfield; there’s a fishing lake and a smaller pool.

The indoor swimming pool is overlooked by a coffee shop. WiFi is available free of charge.

There’s an à la carte restaurant here, too; it’s open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, plus Sunday lunchtimes.

The park’s owners are in the process of expanding the restaurant facility.  The new building is due for completion toward the end of 2019. The park will then have a lighter-meals area including breakfasts, and a bar, in addition to the fine dining restaurant.

One-bedroom lodges are priced from £68,000; two-bedroom versions are from £135,000. Lodges have a 20-year licence agreement which can be extended to 30 years for an additional cost. Eleven-month ground rent is from £3005 depending on the plot. Mains gas and electricity are metred.

Beaconsfield has a park-and-ride facility nearby, taking you to Shrewsbury. The park is close to the heritage Battlefield 1403 site, where the Battle of Shrewsbury took place. In additional to the historical interest here, there is farm shop, butchery, delicatessen and café.

The National Trust Attingham Park is ideal for dog walking, and Chester, a great place for shopping, is just an hour’s drive away.
