Advertising feature – Norton Manor Estate

Red cedar, Japanese maple, yew and a very old evergreen oak are just some of the magnificent trees that surround the homes on Norton Park Estate, which is set in the grounds of the old manor, approached along a mile-long private driveway from the village of Norton.

The large plots are set out informally among the trees, each with adjacent parking, and some overlook the estate’s private fishing lake and the manor house. The estate offers wonderful private walks among the vast woodlands of Impton Wood and is a thriving home for varied wildlife – so it’s a wonderful location for those who want to get close to nature.

The park is just two miles from Presteigne, the former county town of Radnorshire (now part of Powys). Nestling at the heart of the Welsh Marches (the border country), and set alongside the River Lugg, the town is a short drive from Hay on Wye, where you can browse the many bookshops for which it has become famous since the advent of the annual Literary Festival.

The gourmet’s paradise of Ludlow is just 18 miles away, and Hereford, with its cathedral, 26 miles.

Presteigne itself has a good range of shops, restaurants, pubs and other services, and plays host to an annual music and arts events, including a Music Festival that has featured everything from Irish music to African drums.

The town’s St Andrews church houses its own treasure, a 16th-century Flemish tapestry, while the Judge’s Lodging is an award-winning  restored Georgian Court House, complete with cells, courtroom and living quarters.

Norton estate residents Ken and Maureen Canton sum up the park’s attractions when they say, “We will never go back to town life – we would miss all our beautiful views. This park is unique, and Presteigne is a lovely place to live.”
