HERITAGE is based in Wales at Porthmadog and in 22 years has built a reputation for well-designed quality homes. Shown for the first time to the public and trade at the Hull show, the company’s two new units, the Vision and Impression, offer real contemporary style and first reactions from visitors were very favourable.

The Vision attracted a lot of attention. Its exterior is modern and available in several different finishes. Designed as an entry level lodge, but built to BS3632 residential standard, it’s also ideal for holiday hire fleet buyers or those looking for a buy-to-let investment.

The version shown at Hull was the 40/42ft x 20ft, two-bed layout (the stepped front façade accounts for the two length measurements), which includes a large lounge/dining room combined with an open plan kitchen. A small corridor sends you to the master bedroom on the left and the twin bedroom on the right, with a separate bathroom next to it.

AIRY AMBIENCE

The lounge area is impressively spacious and is lit by a pair of French doors on the left of the stepped front end elevation, a full height narrow window set into an angled dogleg and a large, three-quarter height window taking up most of the right hand side.

As you enter through the French doors, the dining table is directly ahead of you, with 3 and 2-seater sofas set to the right of the room. In addition to those on the front, there is a large three-quarter height window on the side of the home overlooking the dining area and two narrower, three-quarter height windows to the lounge area on the front side. All these long windows let in plenty of natural light and, with its choice of neutral soft furnishings and light wood furniture, the Vision has a light and airy ambience.

Between the two side windows to the lounge is a feature fireplace with electric fire. In the far right hand corner of the lounge area is a door providing a side entrance to the home, and beside it a large cupboard which contains the boiler, but can also be used as a cloakroom.

SMART FOR COOKS

The kitchen area is placed directly behind the dining section and has a plank-effect vinyl floor rather than the light-coloured carpet fitted elsewhere.
It has a U-shaped layout and the fascias are finished in a darker wood than the rest of the home.

There is excellent worktop space and cupboard storage, while the cooker hobs and oven are electric, with an integrated extractor with a cover matching the other cupboard fascias. There is space for a washing machine and a fridge/freezer is standard.

A large side window above the sink allows plenty of light into the kitchen area.

MASTER

On the left at the end of the hall is the master bedroom, which might not seem particularly large, but has both a spacious walk-in wardrobe and an en suite that packs in a hand basin, loo and walk-in quadrant shower cubicle.

There are two three-drawer chests either side of the double bed, a sizeable radiator beneath the window and a three-lamp ceiling pendant.

ROOMY TWO

At the end of the hall is the second bedroom, a sizeable room with the twin beds separated by a small chest of drawers – and plenty of room for a double bed if you wished.

The large side window allows in plenty of light to help make the room feel more spacious still. The designers have also added to this a large full length, wall-mounted mirror that magnifies the feeling of space.

Space at this end of the home is generous enough for this room to feature its own large walk-in wardrobe, giving the users plenty of room to store clothing and other necessities.

BATH AND SHOWER

Exiting the living area into the hall, to the right is the communal bathroom. This is compact in size yet features a bath with overbath shower and hinged shower screen, attractive beige marble effect tiling (mostly half-height, but full height around the shower), plank effect vinyl flooring, a circular, white ceramic bowl on a wooden pedestal with glass shelf beneath and loo finished in white. There is also an oval mirror above the basin, with a strip light and shaver point.

OUR VERDICT

Heritage also do a slightly longer, 43/45x20 version of the Vision, with a third (single) bedroom, so increasing sleeping capacity and making it even more ideal for hire fleet buyers.

But whether you are considering rental income, or just looking for a suitable second home for your own use – or even a first home, as it is built to the BS3632 residential standard – the Vision is a very attractive proposition.

There is good use of available space, plenty of windows providing views out and light in and attractive fittings and furnishings. All for a very competitive price.
