New sustainability focused lodge development for the New Forest

Lovat Parks, one of the UK’s leading owners of holiday and residential parks, has confirmed that a new development of sustainable luxury lodges will open this month at its New Forest holiday park.

The development of 22 new lodges and holiday homes will open from 29 August at Green Hill Farm Holiday Village in Landford, on the outskirts of Salisbury.

Green Hill Farm is operated by Lovat Parks and is already well established as one of the region’s most popular camping, glamping and caravan sites for families who want to get back to nature and immerse themselves in the great outdoors.

An open weekend for the new development will be held on the 29 and 30 August.

The part-wooded site boasts two fishing lakes and a wildlife lake, a wildlife centre where guests can learn more about the natural world, plus new nature trails throughout Green Hill Farm’s 70 acres in the New Forest National Park with viewing stations so that families can glimpse wildlife including deer, badgers and a host of different bird species.

The new lodges, which can be customised and made completely bespoke to suit owners’ design preferences, have already attracted interest from families who are turning away from foreign travel and instead are seeking an affordable second home in the British countryside.

The interest has also been due to the reasonable pitch fees and the fact that there is no age limit on the holiday homes unlike many holiday parks in the U.K.

Raoul Fraser, founder and CEO of Lovat Parks, which owns Green Hill Farm, explained that, while the new development has been planned since last year, the months of lockdown have only increased demand for these type of homes and glamping spots.

“Our ethos is to focus on wellness and the great outdoors, and to offer an escape from the stresses of everyday life,” he said.

“Families across the UK have been cooped up inside for months this year and are keen to reconnect and get back to nature. As soon as the Government announced that holiday parks and campsites could reopen, the phones at Green Hill Farm were ringing off the hook as we took hundreds of enquiries from both holidaymakers and potential owners. Restrictions on foreign travel mean that the popularity of staycations has reached an all-time high, and as one the most beautiful areas in the UK, it’s no surprise that the New Forest is seeing a surge of interest.”

Prices for the new lodges start from £109,995, rising to £219,995 for a three-bedroom, contemporary Nordic-style lodge sleeping six.

There’s also an opportunity for owners to make a significant return on their investment by renting out the lodges when they’re not using them. Booking firm Hoseasons estimates that holiday homes in the South of England could generate up to £34,000 of rental income per year.

The new development at Green Hill Farm has a strong focus on sustainability. Lovat Parks is the first and only holiday park company in the world to be B Corp certified, which indicates that it is focused on balancing profit with purpose, operating in a way that is environmentally and socially responsible. The company had to go through a rigorous 15-month assessment and demonstrate its commitment to reaching the highest standards of social and environmental performance to achieve the certification.

Environmentally friendly measures at Green Hill Farm include solar-powered lighting in the grounds, and locally sourced produce for the shop and cafe in order to minimise food miles. Lovat Parks has supported the local community throughout the pandemic, including by donating to local food banks and charities.
