NEW OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY HELPS CHILDREN’S CHARITY

An Olympian fundraising effort by staff at Park Holidays UK crossed the finishing line in recent days when a £5,000 cheque was handed over to a national children's charity.

The much-needed boost to an appeal by The Children's Trust was achieved by a sporting summer of events organised by the group across its 25 parks in Southern England. The charity provides care to youngsters with multiple disabilities and complex health needs.

Highlight was a high-profile relay of the official Olympic torch used in the build-up to the London Games. Enthusiastic teams of staff and managers arranged a series of fun events to mark its arrival at each park.

When the two-week park tour was over, the donations collected from holidaymakers were topped up by a raffle of the torch among holiday-home owners at the group.

The Children's Trust will be using Park Holiday UK's donation to help make vital improvements at its 24-acre Tadworth, Surrey, site where children from across the UK receive therapy and rehabilitation.
