Mercia doubles lodge licence and offers cash back deal

Mercia Marina has doubled the length of licence contracts on its luxury holiday lodges from 50 to 100 years – at no additional cost to buyers.

The 74-acre South Derbyshire marina and holiday park has made the move following consultation with existing holiday lodge owners who wanted to be able to pass their lodges onto future generations of their families.

In addition, the marina, which was recently awarded a four-star holiday park rating by Quality in Tourism and a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award, is offering a £7,500 ‘cash back’ deal on completion to anyone purchasing a new lodge before the end of January 2012.

Buyers can alternatively opt for the equivalent value in luxury furnishings, which can be sourced with the help of the marina’s dedicated interior design consultant. Or, lodge owners who also own a boat can opt for free moorings for five years.

“The decision to extend the lodge licences has been received very positively by our current owners,” said Robert Neff, Mercia’s general manager.

“Not only does it give them the peace of mind in the knowledge that their children and grandchildren can enjoy their investment in years to come, but the value of their purchase will not decline due to a shortening lease should they decide to sell it in the future.”

Mercia Marina, which was last year granted permission to build 18 holiday lodges, is also introducing a ‘try before you buy’ option for a limited period, where people who have rented one of the lodges for a short or seven-day break will have the cost refunded if they decide to purchase.

The two and- three-bedroom lodges range in price from about £130k to £180k.
