Full steam ahead for Sunset Park

EVEN the rain couldn’t put a dampener on the recent triple celebration at Sunset Park, Hambleton. Invited guests, including the Mayor and Mayoress of the Borough of Wyre, Councillor and Mrs Peter Hawley, joined Michael Taylor, Chairman of Carr Royd Parks and his co-directors, Sandy Taylor and David Mooney, for a champagne reception and barbeque to mark a hat trick of achievements for Sunset Park.

The first achievement saw Sunset go straight in at Gold for the David Bellamy Conservation Award. In the spirit of David Bellamy, the Mayor dug in and planted a tree to commemorate the day.

The second achievement was Sunset winning the National Business Excellence Award in the Holiday and Caravan Parks section for a business with over £1m turnover.

It was cited for successfully analyzing its mix of business, eliminating nightly touring caravans and tents, developing timber-clad homes to attract a new market and introducing extensive landscaping to enhance the natural environment.

The third reason for celebration was the 21st anniversary of working almost exclusively with Cosalt Holiday Homes developing holiday lodges for Carr Royd’s parks, creating luxury accommodation on the inside while working to blend the homes into the park environment.

The latest Cosalt Sunset Super Lodge was open for visitors to view.  It not only has the kitchen sink, it also has an American style silver fridge freezer with ice and water in the door, a silver dishwasher, a washer and dryer as well as a LCD TV on the wall.

Blackpool Brass, sponsored by Sunset Park, kept everyone entertained. Guests were also able to ride Sunset’s Hambleton Rio Grande steam train.
