A log cabin for the 21st century
‘Contemporary’ is much overused as an adjective describing park homes.
However, the Finnish Log Contemporary has a greater claim to the term than most. That’s because it clearly provides both an up-to-date and a fashionable take on what is without doubt a highly traditional concept: the log cabin.
In 2013 Finnish Log Homes, based in Essex, signed an agreement with Omar Park & Leisure Homes. The 40ftx22 Contemporary, built by Omar to BS3632, is the first fruits of that agreement.
The exterior is nothing if not minimalist, a simple, rectangular box with a flat, roof and a glass front wall. Glazing apart, the exterior is timber clad.
The interior layout is simple too: a central, open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area flanked at each end by a bedroom, both with their own toilet and washing facilities.
White-painted walls are matched by flat, white-paneled ceilings with the flooring being laminated oak (apart from the tiled bathroom and en-suite) and the doors, solid oak.
Typical sited price is £229,000.
This Finnish Log Contemporary is true to its name, a mixture of the traditional and the contemporary with a distinct Scandinavian flavour.
An acquired taste it may be. But whatever your viewpoint, the combination of Finish Log Homes’ ingenuity and flair with Omar’s manufacturing expertise and quality of construction make for a winning combination.
