Holiday park review: Meadow Lakes Holiday Park, Cornwall

22ec13dc-9c1e-43b3-a4ef-e8af5ac7fe19

A new development is taking place at a holiday park close to the south coast of Cornwall. Meadow Lakes is an established, quality park just six miles from the pretty fishing village of Mevagissey. The new development, of 13 plots, is called Woodland View.

The park is set in 56 acres of meadows, woodland and lakes. It’s close to Hewas Water village and is a brilliant location for a holiday home.

The region

Several beaches are within a few minutes’ drive; among them are the sheltered cove of Gorran Haven, where dogs are allowed; the small beach of Portmellon and the two secluded beaches at Portholland.

The region has plenty to interest you at times of the year when the beach isn’t top of the activities list. Falmouth, the ancient port and town, is a great place for days out – and there’s a good choice of boat trips on the Fal and Helford rivers and across the estuary to the quaint village of St Mawes.

On rainy days the National Maritime Museum is a great attraction of Falmouth, with informative exhibitions plus interactive activities for children. Maritime history, of Cornwall and around the world, is a fascinating feature of the museum. There’s also an observation tower, for spectacular views. Also, when you pay for one visit, you can visit as many times as you like for a year without paying any more.

The cathedral city of Truro is a delight for shopping. There are gardens and stately homes to visit all over Cornwall. The county is famous for art; there are galleries in all of the towns and in some of the small villages, too. Of course, there’s plenty of coastal path walking, ranging from gentle strolls to challenging stretches.

The holiday park

Meadow Lakes has an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, indoor and outdoor play areas, four fishing lakes, a shop – and animals to get to know! These include Shetland ponies, donkeys, goats and guinea pigs. Meadow Lakes also offers extremely spacious plots and space to enjoy your time on this quiet and peaceful park.

Holiday homes and lodges

New holiday homes are priced from £45,000. That’s for a 35ft by 12ft Willerby Linwood, complete with skirting, steps and a garden store.

Among other holiday homes available is a 40ft by 13ft Willerby Sheraton at £72,995. Lodges are also available; prices start at £109,995 for an Atlas Wisteria 40ft by 20ft lodge. Decking is included for both holiday homes and lodges. The park offers a generous 20-year licence agreement with new holiday homes and a 40-year agreement with lodges.

Meadow Lakes can supply most makes and models of new homes. Prices include delivery, siting, connection to services including piped gas, skirting and steps, a double parking bay and fast WiFi to each plot.

In addition, pre-owned holiday homes are available at Meadow Lakes. Prices start at £19,995 for a three-bedroom, 35ft by 12ft Swift Burgundy.

The park’s season runs from 15 March to 15 January.

For buyers interested in recouping some of the cost of holiday home ownership, Meadow Lakes has a sub-letting scheme.
