Greenhills Holiday Park

0c2a58fe-368f-42b8-bd3a-3e6c65d87b13
JUST a mile from the bustling market town of Bakewell, Greenhills Holiday Park is set in 12 acres of beautiful countryside and surrounded by the rolling hills of the lower Wye Valley.

As well as the touring park, two fields are set aside for owner-occupied caravan holiday homes, and there is a new development of 13 pitches in a lovely south-facing area, enclosed with lots of trees and shrubs and with plenty of wildlife.

What is more, this family-owned holiday park is set in the heart of the Peak District National Park and is an excellent centre from which you can set out to explore the many attractions in the surrounding area.

The park’s on-site facilities include a licensed clubhouse, with a variety of real ales, a well-stocked shop, children’s play area and a grass amenity field. There is children’s entertainment and music evenings at Bank Holidays, and an annual Hallowe’en party.

Nearby Bakewell is famous for its tarts – though they are known to the locals as puddings. Even closer – just half-a-mile away – is the quaint village of Ashford-in-the-Water, through which flows the beautiful River Wye.

Close by, too, is Matlock, with Buxton a short drive west over the peaks. For serious shopping, the Meadow Hall centre is an hour’s drive away in Sheffield.

Matlock is a former spa town situated at a sharp bend in the River Derwent. Just downriver lies Matlock Bath, which is enclosed by the limestone cliffs of the gorge and contains the main tourist attractions of the locality.

Buxton lies on the boundary between the gritstone and limestone areas. The River Wye has had to carve a gorge through the limestone to find an exit to the southeast. At 300 metres above sea level, it is the highest town of its size in England.
