Hot on the heels of the success of its A-class range, come another three Mobilvetta Tekno Line models, this time with low-profile bodywork. Aimed squarely at the upper echelons of the mid-range market, they look pretty good outside, but even better once you get indoors.

The A-class K-Yacht range now goes even further with UK-handed bodywork, while strong sales, if they come for the low-profiles, might see these also with habitation doors on our nearside in the future. This P68 model is subject to strong competition in the market as its island bed layout is currently one of the most popular; there’s plenty of choice out there. But I was impressed. Especially after checking out externals that include LED rear lights, the 150bhp motor, a solar panel, side skirt storage lockers and smart alloys.

Then I entered to discover a rich-toned interior that oozes class. Delving into some of the dark spaces also inspired confidence, as build quality appeared impressive. And construction techniques impress, too, as the structure is wood-free, skinned all-round in tough GRP, with alloy side skirts. \

The lounge is L-shaped on the nearside and with an inward-facing single seat opposite, while all the pews are furnished in Moby Eco material, a faux leather that does a passable job at replicating the real thing without eye-watering extra cost. So there’s seating and good dining for six at a squeeze – four will have loads of space. Above, the drop-down double bed descends electrically and also offers plenty of length: 1.90m is better than many of the type.

The kitchen holds few surprises – typically continental, with the Brit-pleasing addition of an oven/grill, mounted above the auto-energy-selecting, huge fridge/freezer. And there’s oodles of storage space with a pull-out larder, big cupboard and drawers. Working surface is a bit limited but the three-in-line hob leaves some space at the front, while there’s a drop-in sink cover that stows neatly in its own nest inside the cutlery drawer.

Bathroom facilities are again, typical: en suite to the bedroom, but with a second door that closes it off so the folks sleeping up front can bathe in private while the bedroom is occupied. The rest brings all good news, with a nice shower and a washroom that eschews the fashionable countertop basin, providing a tough stainless-steel bowl mounted in a spacious vanity top. The mirror is big, storage good and the loo mounted at a height that should see all able to get seated in comfort.

Short island beds are a recipe for disaster as far as a good night’s sleep is concerned as the radiused foot makes them even shorter away from the centre. But there’s more good news here. We measured the bed dimensions at 2.08m by 1.40m, which is excellent – possibly even class-leading.

Beneath the bed, the garage does well in the dimensions department, too: a pair of big external doors and electrically adjustable height for the bed means flexible stowage space and easy access for sleepers.
