Full review

Britain’s largest dealership, Marquis Leisure, has re-entered the A-class motorhome market as the UK’s sole outlet for Italian marque, Mobilvetta.

The three K-Yacht Tekno Line models marketed here include this 85 layout with fixed single beds over a garage.

Competitively priced for an A-class, the K-Yacht comes with a high level of standard equipment, so there’s no need for recourse to a lengthy options list. Its external styling is bold and distinctive – very Italian – while, inside, the super-high-gloss furniture and pale soft furnishings – in Comfort Grey ‘eco leather’ – tie in with the marine nomenclature. Body construction is entirely wood-free, using what Mobilvetta calls iTech insulating technology. The stylish looks are finished off with a set of 16-inch alloy wheels.

Base vehicle is the latest Fiat Ducato, with the 150bhp Euro VI engine as standard. Manual or, at extra cost, semi-automatic (Comfort-Matic) transmissions are offered. The cab comes with automatic air-conditioning, a high-level Fiat DAB radio, including sat-nav and Bluetooth, as well as a reversing camera. A 3,500kg gross weight is standard, giving a quoted payload of 342kg. Those wanting to make the most of the large rear garage, however, will be well advised to upgrade to 3,650kg – driving licences allowing.

The layout is one of the most popular in this size of vehicle today and offers four berths (including the typical A-class drop-down bed in the cab), as well as four belted travel seats. The en suite washroom at the foot of the single beds has a shower (with frosted door and duckboard) on the offside and toilet room on the nearside, while this area can be shut off from the front of the motorhome with a solid door. The toilet area comes with toothbrush and soap holders, towel rail, toilet roll holder and brush and a Mini Heki with extractor fan.

The L-shaped kitchen has few surprises but looks good with its curvy worktop shape. There’s a three-burner hob, chrome sink with mixer tap. and a multi-function chopping board. On the opposite side of the motorhome is a 150-litre, two-door fridge/freezer with a small oven/grill mounted above. Also here is a slide-out larder-style unit for storage of tinned foods and the like.

At the rear, two steps lead up to the high-level permanent single beds with a mirror between their headboards. The twin beds have claimed lengths of 1.92m and 2.05m, with identical widths of 0.82m.

External features of the K-Yacht include a TV aerial, 130W solar panel, plus outside barbecue, mains and TV points. The Driver’s Pack – which is included in the price shown – adds ESP, Traction+, Hill Hold Assist and Hill Descent Control.
