Launched in 2016, Hymer’s latest B-Class motorhome, the DynamicLine (B-DL for short), is good looking and slim (2.22m overall), but there’s plenty to like under the skin, too.

Lightweight construction sees a motorhome that’s almost seven metres long, providing a payload of over half a tonne on a 3,500kg chassis.

The exterior demonstrates Hymer’s ability to produce a fully integrated motorhome that looks superb. The nose is resplendent with a flush-fit windscreen and the latest-tech, LED headlights are beautifully integrated units that are custom designed.

The best A-classes present a view from the cab that  puts you in the holiday mood as soon as you sit down. DynamicLine does not disappoint. And nor should the living area: cabinets are classy, with curves in all the right places, while the colour scheme features rich wood tones combined with enough white to lighten the mood, but not make things too harsh.

Fiat Ducato foundations feature an upmarket Al-Ko rear chassis with a double floor that provides storage and a cosy, frost-free home for all the plumbing. There’s more storage in the rear, too, with a good-sized garage that’s also accessible from inside.

Back inside, the main bed is the drop-down double that, because of the B-DL’s slim width, is only just over 6ft long. However, there’s an extension that makes the bed into two lengthways singles that run to 6ft 5in.

The lounge houses a generous lengthways sofa that also becomes berth number three. The so-called ‘bar’ layout is so named as it’s far more than just a table: a desk, work surface also extending around and to the rear and served the by a third captain’s chair. Swivelled cab seats join in to make a lounge/diner that provides a big sofa and table that are always ready for action, and it’s less obtrusive than a fixed, central table.

The kitchen is divided by the aisle. It isn’t huge but it offers the option of a full Thetford Aspire cooker with mains hotplate, three gas burners and a separate grill and oven. Alongside, the worktop overhangs the settee to give you some preparation/serving space, while, below, an excellent set of drawers means easy access to culinary kit. Opposite, the big fridge/freezer offers a generous 160 litres of volume.

So the kitchen is better than many, while the bathroom should be the cause of elation. The full-width ablutions are one of the stars of the show. The separate shower is big, while the wardrobe – at over four feet wide – is large enough to raise a chuckle. A sensible basin with good countertop and a swivel-bowl loo finish things very nicely.

But it’s the lounge that is the USP here and the fact that this motorhome seems to offer so much within 7m/3.5-tonne limits. In fact, this is one of the Editor’s favourite two-person motorhomes of 2017.
