Full review

Back in 2019, Elddis launched a range of campervans which also became available as dealer special versions. This Signature CV20 is made exclusively for – and is available exclusively from – Tyne Valley Motorhomes.

It's a two-berth campervan (there is also the three-berth CV40, and the alternative- layout two-berth CV60). As you would expect from a British campervan built for the UK market, it has a central kitchen that is extremely well equipped.

You’ll find the galley in this camper comes with a two-burner gas hob with additional 230V hotplate, a combination grill/oven, stainless- steel sink with matching worktop cover, microwave and a slim three-way fridge/freezer.

Opposite the kitchen, there’s a surprisingly practical washroom for such a compact space, offering a shower, a swivel cassette loo with electric flush and a circular washbasin. But what really makes this campervan great for a touring couple is to be found in the rear, where the spacious reason-to-buy lounge is located.

This seating area has a side-facing sofa down either side, which can be easily converted into two generous 1.88m (6ft 2in) single beds or equally easily into a large, transverse double bed.

Because of large windows on three sides of the lounge plus a large sunroof, it is the place to sit back and relax with glass in hand while you enjoy the view or watch the world pass by. And, if the weather is agreeable, you can simply open the double rear doors, stretch out on the sofas and let the fresh air flood in.

On chillier days and evenings, the Whale dual-fuel heating system runs off main/230V, or gas, which is fed from a 25-litre underslung gas tank. The water heater is also fitted underneath the campervan, which means loads of space is freed up in the habitation area for storage of essential and not-so-essential holiday items.

Better still, as you’d expect from a dealer special, this model is packed with loads of extras that would normally set the buyer back an arm and a leg, either as a factory-fit accessory or as one fitted by the dealer when you order your new campervan.

For example, the Signature CV20 comes with an electric entrance step, a full-width sliding door flyscreen, LED lighting throughout, TV preparation including a bracket, a DAB radio/CD player with Bluetooth, USB and steering wheel controls for the radio and your smartphone, pleated cab blinds, a solar panel, an omnidirectional TV aerial, an awning, a reversing camera, cab air-conditioning, twin airbags, cruise control, electric front windows and mirrors, black and silver alloy wheels, a spare wheel and Azure Blue metallic paintwork.

This campervan is also built on the latest Fiat Ducato panel van with a 2.3-litre 140bhp engine and a manual six-speed gearbox. Of course, Fiat’s latest torque-converter automatic gearbox (which replaced the Comfort-Matic) is optionally available.
