Full review

Benimar’s Primero range launched onto UK shores only recently but has already established itself as a top contender in the family motorhome market.

It’s easy to see why. With such a well-appointed specification at an affordable price tag, Primero is an ideal port of call for families on a budget – but not looking for a budget motorhome. These compact motorhomes are designed to offer a variety of clever storage solutions, ready for all the extra luggage you may, or may not, need for your family holiday.

How affordable? Prices start new from only £48,995 OTR for the Benimar Primero 331, 313, 301 and 283, up to £50,995 for the 202. The Primero is a range of compact, yet spacious, family motorhomes in a variety of coachbuilt and low-profile layouts, from three to six berths.

The Benimar Primero 313 is a six-berth motorhome, making it a great option for large families, or even those just looking for a bit more space.

Those six berths come in the form of bunk beds in the rear of the motorhome – measuring 0.80m wide and 2m in length – a drop-down double bed above the cab (1.5m wide, 2.05m in length) and a further double converted from the dinette seating. When turned into a bed, this double measures 1.3m by 1.7m.

The bunk beds are in a transverse position, running across the width of the motorhome, and the drop down double bed can be accessed by a ladder when it’s activated and in place.

Usefully, in the lounge, the dining table can be extended; again, helpful for a larger family who all want to eat together at mealtimes. The living area features Dometic Deluxe windows and Dometic Midi heki rooflights.

Moving through the interior from front to rear, the kitchen is fitted with a duel fuel gas and electric hob, which has a protective glass lid – useful too for providing extra preparation space – and an oven. The stainless steel sink also has a glass lid. There’s an 80-litre fridge/freezer.

Opposite the kitchen is the washroom, which features a Thetford cassette toilet with electric flush, washbasin with single door cupboard below, and a fully separate shower. There’s a rooflight with flyscreen, towel holder and chrome finish brass mixer taps and shower head.

In the cab, the new Fiat 140bhp Euro 6D engine provides a powerful, comfortable and safe driving experience with an optional Fiat automatic gearbox available at extra cost. The inclusion of the latest driver assistance technology, which includes ABS brakes and ESP Traction Control, means you can drive with comfort.

Drivers will also benefit from the latest audio technology, with a high level touch screen radio with Bluetooth capabilities, DAB, USB input, and MP3 player.

In addition, electrically heated and adjustable wing mirrors are included in the Benimar Primero 313.
