Full review

The Broadway EB motorhome makes no secret of its priorities. This is a motorhome designed for two people, but not just any couple.

EB buyers will be motorhomers who prefer to use the ablutions facilities inside their ’van, rather than trek to the campsite block.

Of course, there are a number of other end washroom layouts around, some with fixed single beds and others, like this, without any form of permanent bed. Usually, though, these are layouts that command quite substantial bodywork. Here we have, instead, a ’van that’s well under six-and-a-half metres overall.

That means the lounge is not as large as in some rival models and, if you want to sleep in single beds, you’ll have to employ the cab seats (where your feet will go). The resultant beds are said to be 1.93m by 0.70m each (manufacturer’s figures), although the alternative transverse double (claimed dimensions 2.10m by 1.35m) – just slide the two side settees together and slot in the backrest cushions – is probably a better bet for most users.

All that said, the lounge is still open and spacious for two, with swivel cab seats (each with a single armrest) joining the pair of bench seats with armrests and scatter cushions. New upholstery options this season also increase the choice and add a more contemporary feel to the interior. The floral Casa Mila and stripy Sagrada fabrics are new for 2018, with five colours of each on offer.

But, back to the bathroom, for, as we said at the outset, this is the EB’s USP. Open the washroom door and it’s the white, bowl-on-a-plinth washbasin that faces you, with an illuminated mirror above. Off to the right is the separate shower, while to the left is the wardrobe – making this into a proper changing room – and around the corner is the cassette loo. It’s a very generous washroom for a vehicle of this size, and one that’s backed up by a fairly large fresh water tank (102 litres). The waste tank, however, is just 71 litres.

In between the lounge and the bathroom is a surprisingly spacious kitchen area. With the main unit occupying the space forward of the habitation door, on the nearside, this is where you’ll find the full cooker (including mains hotplate, separate grill and oven and three gas rings) and a sink (with spare worktop to use the free-standing drainer) alongside and an extractor hood above.

Opposite, there’s loads more worktop space, as well as a microwave set at a sensible height – and even a kitchen roll dispenser. The fridge is also here – a reasonably modest under-counter model. Spec even extends to a set of melamine crockery.

Of course, as with every Auto-Sleeper, you’ll need to invest in the £2,500 Premium Pack, which adds alloy wheels, cab air-conditioning, cruise control, a Thule awning, reversing camera, sat-nav, leather steering wheel and 80W solar panel.
