Full review

V-Line SE was launched for the 2016 model year with a choice of classic, British rear lounge layouts in three different lengths of Fiat Ducato panel van, offering maximum choice.

Now, there’s a new addition to the line-up for 2019, which follows the same pattern but adds one important new feature – a tall, slimline 142-litre fridge/freezer.

So, if having a super-sized cooler in your camper is what you’ve been looking for, your prayers have been answered!

Other changes across the V-Line range include a new DAB radio head unit, recessed ambient over-locker lighting and a choice of two new upholsteries.

The all-new big fridge is mounted right behind the driver’s chair, which still  swivels (like the passenger seat) to create a table-free secondary seating area on site. But, if you’re on the taller side, check out the amount of rake adjustment available for the driver because the high furniture does slightly restrict movement.

Similarly, try out the beds. You can turn the rear settees into either twin single beds or a huge double but, in both instances, the mattress length is limited to around 6ft, and only 5ft 9in in the case of the offside single.

However, the spacious rear lounge is one of the key reasons to buy this campervan, as it's great for sitting about with friends and family, or spreading out when the weather's not so great! The long settees offer plenty of room to stretch out and relax, and the full-sized dining table is perfect for mealtimes and playing games. The choice of a smaller, round coffee table is a real added bonus, too.

The standard SE model retains the twin barn doors at the back – great for throwing open on a hot summer’s day – but, if you prefer, you can upgrade your 634 with the £1,795 Sport Pack, which gives a GRP rear panel with a large single window and an opening boot below, instead.

Inside, the Sport model gets wrap-around U-shaped seating instead, which comes in an alternative soft fabric.

As well as the massive fridge, the latest V-Line has a well-planned galley with a kitchen featuring an oven/grill and an adjacent sink. You also get a microwave, plenty of storage cupboards and a decent amount of workspace.

When it comes to ablutions, there's a good-looking, compact washroom with a cassette toilet, a shower and a tip-up basin with a couple of cupboards above.

In sum, the standard V-Line 634 SE is very well specced with its 115bhp engine, Truma Combi 4E gas/electric heating, 100W solar panel, underslung 25-litre gas tank and generous interior lighting.

If you want to beef it up, the Media Pack (£1,149) adds a reversing camera, a satnav and a touchscreen radio.

A full range of Fiat engine options and the ComfortMatic automatic gearbox are also offered, so you can to tailor the spec of this camper to suit your own style and needs.

Our verdict

The new addition to the V-Line SE line-up for 2019 has added a super-sized fridge/freezer to its classic layout - though its spacious rear lounge remains a key reason for buying it.
