THE Marano is Bürstner's budget range of low-profile coachbuilts and this t 595 is the only one that has been created specifically for the UK market.

Its U-shaped rear lounge floorplan is a layout is, and always has been, popular with British manufacturers, but it's a rarity for European manufacturers to offer such a model.

The biggest plus of this design is the three large windows that surround the lounge, making it a perfect place for on-site lounging and people watching. For the two occupants the sprawling room is almost endless, and there's plenty of seating for those wanting to watch the wardrobe-mounted flatscreen TV too. There are rear speakers for the radio and four swivel spotlights that can be moved to any position, thanks to their rail mountings.

As far as sleeping in concerned, you'll find storage in the low-profile luton, rather than a mattress, and this is the only one of the five Marano layouts that doesn't offer a fixed double bed. Still, the t 595's bed is easy to make up, using the two backrests belonging to the inward-facing settees to complete a double mattress. It's a simply huge bed that enables you to sleep lengthways or widthways depending on your liking.

Looks-wise, the Marano's low-profile body is smart, with modern rear lights and a low gas locker so you don't have to lift the bottles up high when changing them. Also, unusually for a budget range, you have a choice of exterior colour schemes. The blue or grey skirts and white body are standard, but you can also opt for the Fire option (copper skirts and bumpers with a silver cab and body) or Flamenco with its red cab and flashy graphics.

You wouldn't warrant the Marano's budget tag by looking at its kitchen. The hob has three burners but and the circular stainless-steel sink lacks a drainer. The fridge is the round-fronted 104-litre Dometic model and an oven and grill are provided.

The washroom is small compared to some vehicles of this size and comes with a swivel cassette toilet, squared-off washbasin and a separate shower hose. It's finished in Burstner's usual stylish décor with silver walls and grey plastic mouldings, but it does rely on a sticky plastic shower curtain to protect the wooden door from getting wet.

All in all, this German motorhome feels every bit at home in the UK with its warm upholstery and UK-biased layout.
