The name of the game in the Autocruise Accent is flexibility. You can leave the 4ft 5in-wide transverse rear double bed made up, should you wish, as well as having the option of a couple of additional rear travel seats immediately behind the cab, again for when needed.

The rear seat has some automotive styling to it, but that comes with a downside. The amount of fillet pieces required to turn the chair into a bed is baffling, but it is a nice addition. To be fair, the second bed is probably only designed to be for occasional guest use and so outweighs the difficulty in putting it together.

Like all the current Autocruise stable, the Accent comes with just the one colour option, a pleasant powder-blue, and just the one base, the Peugeot Boxer based on the 2.2l engine with 130bhp. Swift group purchase a huge quantity of these bases and somewhat pass the savings on to the customer.

You'll be hard pressed not to go for the 'optional' Comfort Pack for £1,445, in fact it would appear that not one has left the factory without it. It does after all mean that you get Air Con, reversing sensors and a plethora of other add-ons for your van.

Many little aspects have been thought out, including storage space for fold-away tables, providing much-needed safety measures whilst travelling. The washroom here is a good example of Autocruise’s forward thinking. There’s a fixed washbasin with some rather clever panelling around it, plus the tap extends to be the showerhead, complete with trigger operation. There’s also sufficient space to use the swivel-bowl toilet for its intended function.

About Campervan magazine

Our verdict

Both Autocruises in this ultimate test put up the strongest case for winning the price/specification title. Just don’t see the three stars awarded to this Accent as derogatory. The Autocruise is the basis on which all others are judged.

Advantages

Comprehensively equipped for the price
Automatic Option

Disadvantages

Comparatively plain
