Wellhouse launches two new campervans

51972155-f265-469f-a8a4-6b8b76439208

Wellhouse Leisure is adding two new campervans to its line-up, with both making an appearance at the NEC Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show in February 2019. The models include the Hyundai i-Camper we have already previewed, and the all-new Citroën Martello LWB - both were seen for the first time in Birmingham. Also on display at the NEC were the Ford Tourneo Trento and the Ford Custom Tellaro LUX-XL.

The latest model, the Martello, is based on the LWB Citroën Dispatch and is similar to the company's Toyota Proace Matino. However, the Martello offers 35cm more interior living space than its Toyota sister model using the same bodyshell. It is also only 5.31m long, 1.9m wide and 1.98m high, making it suitable for use as a daily driver as well as a weekend campervan.

The interior has a side kitchen and bench seat that slides on a rail system in the floor. The crash-tested seat folds out to make a double bed and there is a second double bed in the UK-made elevating roof.

LED mood lighting is standard, as is a 25-litre compressor fridge, Eberspächer diesel heating, built-in fresh or waste water tanks and a leisure battery that can be charged by mains or by the solar panel. The cab also comes with a high level of kit, including air-con, alarm, front and rear parking sensors, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, a rear camera and metallic paint.

The Martello with a 95PS 1.6HDi engine (2,830kg gross vehicle weight) costs from £38,000, while the 120PS 2.0HDi version (3,100kg GVW) starts at £39,440. This model is available to order direct from Wellhouse Leisure.

The Hyundai i-Camper was first produced by Wellhouse Leisure in 2010; the 2019 model has a new-look exterior and an updated cab, as well as a sliding rear seat. Luxury spec includes a SMEV owen and grill, Eberspächer diesel heating, Vitrifrigio 47-litre drawer fridge, leisure battery, portable toilet and 100W solar panel.

Like the Martello, its dimensions make it suitable four use as an everyday vehicle. It's 5.15m long, 1.92m wide and 1.98m high. There's a choice of the 2.5CRDI engine with 135PS and six-speed manual - which costs from £44,000 - or 170PS with automatic transmission. This costs from £45,850.

* The Citroen Martello won the 'Micro Motorhomes' category in the Caravan and Motorhome Club Design Awards, announced during February's show.
