New online threats emerge
If you are in the process of selling your motorhome on the Autotrader website then be warned that a phishing email is currently being sent to sellers claiming that a Thomas Livingston wants to buy your AutoTrader Ad. It has a link that the reader is asked to click to view the request. Unfortunately the site that this leads to is not the genuine AutoTrader site, it’s a fake site that is there to gain access to your AutoTrader account details. If you have received this email and followed the link you are advised to log in and change your password immediately.Other scams currently targeted at AutoTrader advertisers include text and email messages asking the seller to pay a deposit to secure the sale of the vehicle. The seller is then asked to visit www.team-autotrader.com to make the deposit. The offer is not genuine, the site is a scam and none of it is affiliated or run by AutoTrader. If you have fallen victim to this scam, you are advised to contact Action Fraud immediately on 0300 123 2040.
