VW reveals update on the new California 6.1 campervan
The first details of the new California 6.1 campervan have been teased out by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
The update reveals some of the upgrades and improvements to what is VW’s best-selling campervan – more than 18,000 Californias were sold in the UK in 2018.
VW say the living and sleeping areas of the new campervan have been enhanced and optimised, the dashboard has been redesigned – digital instruments are an option - and new online infotainment systems have been included.
The California 6.1 also features electromechanical power steering and several new assistance systems, including Lane Assist, Side Protection and Trailer Assist. The campervan will have 2.0-litre turbodiesel engines, with an output of up to 146 kW/199 PS.
The California 6.1 will make its debut at the Caravan-Salon in Dusseldorf, Germany from 30 August to 8 September.
