Volkswagen launches all-new Caddy
The latest incarnation of the compact Volkswagen Caddy has been revealed.
The Caddy is used by campervan manufacturers such as CMC to create Reimo compact micro-campers. This latest fifth-generation Caddy is new from the ground up and is packed with driver assistance and safety systems, as well as networked infotainment and digitalised control systems to turn the Caddy into a smartphone on wheels. It also has cleared TDi diesel engines.
The exterior has been given a new more sporty design. At the same time the space in the interior has also been improved. It will again be available as the Cargo (panel van with enclosed superstructure), an estate (with passenger compartment windows) and in various different passenger car variants (MPVs).
The nomenclature of the passenger lines has been reconfigured: the base model is now the ‘Caddy’; above that follows the ‘Life’ and finally the premium ‘Style’ line. All of the models are even better equipped than the corresponding previous one. The diesel engines are available with 74bhp and 120bhp and there is a turbocharged petrol engine delivering 114bhp and a supercharged natural gas engine (TGI).
Prices and UK specifications have not yet been announced.
