Trading the rat race for the motorhome and campervan lifestyle
A recent survey, commissioned by specialist insurer, Lifesure, has found that many British people dream of quitting the rat race and heading out on the open road. 55% say they're not wedded to their jobs while 36% say they dream of a life on the open road. One in six even claimed that they are about the quit the daily grind.
41% of those surveyed specifically said they would like to live full-time in a campervan, with 54% saying they'd convert their own. Over half said they would like to try living off-grid.
The top five destinations for these would-be adventurers are California, Route 66, Great Ocean Road, the Greek islands and the South of France. Motorhomes was third in the dream home stakes at 26%, with beach and log cabins taking the top two spots.
“This research shows that people still have romantic dreams of life on the open road and we are not surprised,” said Nick Long, Commercial Director, Lifesure, which commissioned the survey.
“The flexibility and fun offered by campervans is second to none. By converting a van to a motorhome, owners can customise and create their ultimate home away from home, while making a saving on annual vehicle tax. You can see the appeal,” says Nick.
