The quest for motorhome hire insurance

Questor, a leading insurance provider for motorhomes, believes that UK holidaymakers are being savvy and choosing to hire motorhomes as a way of escaping the unpredictable British summer.

A poll by TripAdvisor also found that 37 per cent of holidaymakers will be venturing outside the UK this year, compared with 27 per cent last year.

If you're unsure about taking the plunge and buying a motorhome, hiring as a practice-run could also be the answer.

“Motorhome holidays are a cost effective way of escaping the unpredictable British weather in comfort and style, but remember that, unlike hotel rooms, you have to insure them against theft or damage," says Questor CEO Andrew Lawrence.

“I would urge people who are renting motorhomes to remember to check the hire agreement carefully and make sure they understand what it does and doesn’t include. In particular, check the excess on the rental agreement and what you are responsible for. Questor’s Motorhome excess reimbursement policy covers the excess on the hire agreement up to £2,000 for European rentals and £5,000 for worldwide rentals and includes loss or damage to tyres, the windscreen and the keys of the hired vehicle.

“We also recommend that you carefully check the vehicle before leaving the pick-up point noting any damage to the vehicle with the hiring company as well as checking that the tyres are legal. Finally, holidaymakers must make sure that their driving licence covers motorhomes.”

Questor’s motorhome hire insurance is easy to buy and starts at just £21.17. Drivers must between 25 and 70 years of age, and rental cover can last up to 31 days.
