Sussex Campervans launches new all-electric Nissan campervan

b638040b-6568-4c70-a651-cba7cb5466ba

Sussex Campervans has announced its new all-electric campervan, based on the Nissan e-NV200.

While it's not the first leisure conversion on this battery electric-powered van, it is probably the first to do away with gas, as well as diesel or petrol.

The base vehicle is the latest version of the electric Nissan panel van, which has recently been upgraded to a 40kWh battery (from 24kWh) to give a quoted range of up to 187 miles (WLTP City Cycle) or 124 miles on the more realistic Combined Cycle.

It offers a power output of 109bhp and the vehicle battery comes with an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty. Three different charging modes are available: rapid charger (taking the battery from 20% to 80% in 40 to 60 minutes at one of the UK’s 1,300 CHAdeMO rapid chargers, as seen at motorway services), wallbox (taking seven-and-a-half hours to fully recharge) or from a standard domestic three-pin plug (charging time 21 hours and 30 minutes).

What is unusual about the new All-Electric Camper Car is that not only is the vehicle electrically powered but all its camping facilities are electric, too, so there is no onboard gas supply for cooking or heating.

Sussex Campervans fits this new conversion with a lithium-ion battery pack and an inverter, and a solar panel option is available as well. The electric kitchen fittings include a 50-litre compressor fridge and an induction hob, while the inverter allows a toaster, kettle or slow cooker to be used, even when camping off-grid and away from campsite mains hook-ups.

The rest of the Camper Car is based around a conventional side kitchen layout design that the company has been offering on both diesel and petrol-engined Nissan NV200s for the last seven years.

The vehicle offers four belted travel seats with a rock ‘n’ roll system converting the rear bench seat into a slim double bed. A third berth for a child can be offered in the rear-hinged pop-top roof, while a memory foam topper is available for the main bed. There is space under the seat/bed for a portable toilet.

The Camper Car also features a swivel passenger cab seat, reading lights and a stainless-steel sink with tap that can be extended for use outside.

Upholstery, produced in-house by the Horsham-based converter, is available in cloth, leather or Alcantara and the side kitchen has birch plywood edges and Danish oiled countertops. Overall dimensions are 4.56m long, 1.76m wide and 1.95m high with the roof down.

Prices for the new All-Electric Camper Car start from £59,995.
