Somerset VW campervan converter expands factory

Somerset-based campervan converter, Autohaus, is all set to double its production capacity after extending the factory to more than triple its original size with the support of a £150,000 loan from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

The investment has not just funded a 6,000sq ft extensions to the factory, it involves the installation of vehicle lifts, screw compressors and new sewing machines for the campervan interiors. The business is now able to manufacture 300 vehicles per year and has also launched a new campervan, van and car hire service. The company has also hired five new staff.

Tony Payne, managing director at Autohaus said: “The growing trend in staycations trend has played a large part in our recent success. The size of our existing manufacturing warehouse restricted us from capitalising on the opportunity, as we simply didn’t have the capacity to take on any more orders. The extra space means we will be able to continue our growth trajectory in the years to come.”
