Renault unveils electric campervan concept
Renault has unveiled a new electric campervan concept called the Hippie Caviar Hotel - featuring a furnished roof terrace!
Meet the Hippie Caviar Hotel concept from Renault, described as a throwback to 60s Renault Estafette campervans and a nod to the forthcoming electric Renault Trafic coming in 2022.
What is the set-up?
The campervan concept features a roof terrace with furniture and a bench seat/bed that can be used inside and out.
Open the tailgate and add 'draperies' to create a feeling of space yet retain privacy (contemplation mode). The bench seat and corner armchair can create a lounge (cosy mode).
Upstairs, removable backrests and a coffee table slot into the roof to create a terrace, accessed by an extractable ladder.
Extras delivered by drone?
Renault also mooted the idea of having a drone deliver a logistics container to the location of choice to complement the campervan.
This could contain a shower, toilet and electric recharging point. Or you could order bikes and more to be delivered.
Unusual colour scheme
Even the exterior paint has an unusual duo-tone design with a mint green cab (Almond Flakes) and a silver body.
There's a wicker-effect dashboard with a leather band, as well as liberal use of exotic woods, linen and wood and Japanese paper-effect paints.
Louis Morasse, Renault LCD Design Director, said,
Hippie Caviar Hotel was born with the desire to escape, to experience nature in an idyllic setting with all the comforts and amenities of a five-star hotel,
It's just a concept at the moment, but will this be the future of campervans? Only time will tell...
