f325e1fe-2333-46b0-a285-1b7feaaea97a

A merger of three of New Zealand's five largest motorhome providers has been given the green light according to Taranaki Daily News.

  • The deal sees Tourism Holdings Ltd acquire Kea Campers and United Rentals for a total of $69.5m
  • The merger creates an entity with assets of $157m, combined revenues of $95m, and a vehicle fleet of 2,500, to be reduce to a total 1,800 within two years
THL chief executive Grant Webster said visitor numbers from Europe and the United Kingdom were stagnant, which meant the New Zealand market was oversupplied with motorhomes.

He estimated the number of motorhomes for rent had increased five per cent in the past three years, despite average visitor numbers from Europe and Britain falling.
