Motorhoming in 2020: we look back at a year of MMM

It’s fair to say that 2020 has been a strange year, but we have made it through and it’s time to celebrate…

Over the year, we’ve working hard (mostly from home) to bring you motorhome travel, campsite reviews, the new season launches, technical advice and more. In fact, there’s some pretty impressive numbers:

Motorhome travel

More than 53,000 miles travelled in search of great adventures, from the stunning to the eclectic and the active. That doesn’t include the air miles for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to New Zealand… We’ve even crossed the Mediterranean for a trip to Morocco.

Travel writers have spent over 743 days away, staying on 259 sites, with over £40,000 in fuel, campsite fees, ferries, attractions and more. That's £571 per trip, although the cheapest trip came in at £51, while the most expensive (split over two months) racked up a bill of over £6k (that New Zealand adventure was something).

You’ve reviewed 83 campsites (48 in Britain), while we’ve suggested more than 150 campsites to theme your next adventure around.

Motorhomes and reviews

We’ve reviewed 33 motorhomes from the WildAx Proteus campervan, to a Morelo luxury liner. That’s over £2.82 million worth of motorhomes, with an average price of £83,135. The least expensive was one of the newest, Auto-Trail’s Expedition 66 campervan, although if you were happy to have a more basic Auto-Campers model this would have been the lowest in price at £36k. These two were also the only ones to fall into the sub-£50k bracket.

Five of the motorhomes we reviewed this year were over £100k with two more being above £200k…

Plus, 15 of you have also put pen to paper to rate your own motorhomes and campervans.

Motorhome projects

In the technical section, over 116 questions have been answered on topics including simple lockdown measures for maintaining motorhomes, to base vehicle problems and DIY upgrades.

There’s been 44 articles covering DIY projects, step-by-step improvements and essential advice on all aspects of motorhoming. This equates to £8,432 of upgrades and kit taking up 3 weeks, 6 days, 6 hours and 50minutes of your time
