Motorhome manufacturers, Frankia and Laika, launch new models in Stuttgart

Stuttgart also saw the arrival of a new overcab model from Frankia. The A840 Plus takes a layout which debuted last autumn in an A-class body and introduces it into a lower-priced overcab form. The 8.37-metre offers the ultimate in luxury living for two people, with a C-shaped rear lounge and twin lenthways single beds in the overcab luton, accessed by a folding ladder with wide steps.

At the opposite end of the coachbuilt size spectrum, Laika presented its new Ecovip 100 range, boasting sub-7m length and height of just 2.8m, leading Laika to suggest that it is ideal for first-time buyers.

The new Ecovip 109 is based on a Fiat Ducato 35 Light chassis with 130bhp engine. It has a length of 6.99m and offers five berths and five travel seats. At the rear it has fixed single beds of 2m and 1.92m long, while a pleated curtain separates the bedroom area.

The new Laika still features maximum storage space, including garage space big enough for a motorbike. Options include a drop-down bed over the lounge with a specially positioned TV, and an oven in the kitchen. Standard spec already includes a 140-litre fridge and Combi 4 heating.

A second model in the 100 series will follow. The Ecovip 112 is only 6.59m long but boasts an electrically height-adjustable island bed so that it, too, can offer a full motorbike garage.
