Motorhome hire company adopts new Covid-19 measures
New cleaning processes are being implemented by motorhome and campervan hire company, Indie Campers, in preparation for the Covid-19-related restrictions on UK travel being lifted further.
Portugal’s national tourism board, Turismo de Portugal, created a stamp earlier this month to identify tourist accommodations or services that are compliant with hygiene and cleaning requirements for the limitation and control of Covid-19. The “Clean & Safe” certificate is issued to operations or destinations that follow specific requirements. Indie Campers has adopted these guidelines across its fleet of 850 motorhomes and campervans.
The company's operations in London, Edinburgh and Dublin now conform to these guidelines which cover training staff in cleaning and disinfection procedures, social distancing protocols and having a place where people displaying possible symptoms of Covid-19 can isolate.
The vehicles themselves undergo three phases, with a deep clean using a powerful disinfectant focussing on areas that people frequently touch (door handles, light switches and the steering wheel, for example). This is followed by a general clean, while any add-ons such as tables, chairs and surfboards are disinfected before being placed in the hire vehicle.
The company has also created a new online check-in facility for all bookings, along with online tutorials for the motorhomes and campervans, and requests for information processed in advance to keep physical contact at vehicle collection to a minimum.
